I think the Phils believe they still have a chance, and aren't going to sell.
Amaro came out and said how important this series against the Braves is, so if they get swept or even just lose the series, maybe they will spend the last day and a half seeing what they could get.

Sounding like the Cardinals won't make any deals, other than possibly a relief pitcher.

Because he is beyond awful.
They must have really liked what they saw in his last start in which the White Sox could only muster 7 earned runs in 2.2IP.
He had settled down pretty decently before that, lowering his 6.5 ERA to 5.3.

You're right, Liriano is pitching awful, but he is still talented. No reason to trade him now if all you can get is a loogy and utility guy.

I'm not sure the Reds have much of a glaring need. I guess 3B, right? But certainly Rolen is going to show some improvement...and he's a great defensive player..
