as long as teh hornets have cp3, peja, west, and posey, they're not going to have the ability to sign any impact FAs

that's roughly $42M in salary right there

B) Shaq could conceivably realize that the Hornets would be stacked for 2010/2011 and decide to pull a Malone and re-up for below market value and then try to convince a Dwayne Wade to come play in NOLA.

Honestly I think when and if he decides to play for less. He will do it for the Lakers. He has already said numerous times this year he would like to play with Kobe again. He could be a great backup to Bynum. Plus I think he sees a better shot at a title run in LA. Plus it is LA, many players have a second home out there so I don't see the location hurting his chances of going back.

i don't think you fully understand his point. the expiring contract alone makes shaq worth more than anything the hornets have to offer, it really doesn't matter how well shaq will play in the future

Not sure if that was directed at me. Cause that is pretty much my point. The plus to Shaq is expiring contract but the Hornets version of GHAZI seems a little excited about Shaq but I was pointing out how his talent level is dropping. That was why I mentioned his talent level because I think he is expecting more out of him than he will probably get.

I understand this, where I think they like this deal is they go young. They could very well think they have another run in them. Amare had the injury bug this year so really never saw them full strength. They could be looking at a healthy Amare, Nash and a younger center in Chandler. I don't see them a title contender, but they could see it as an improvement to their aging starting five.

Wait, I thought you hated D-Wade along with your boy Ghazi?

I think Shaq starts the season in Phoenix but is traded before the trade deadline. As long as he is healthy and playing pretty well, there should be a market for him. There wasn't much of a market this year because he still had a year left on his contract, but with his contract expiring I could definitely see a team making a move for him.

There has been a lot said about the training staff for the Suns and whatever they are doing, it seems to work pretty well. Whatever it is, you would think Shaq would stick with the program that they have him on when he leaves since it is obviously working.

going back to the possible trade scenarios,

The version that makes a trade more even cap-wise for the Hornets: Chandler, Butler and Antonio Daniels for Shaq and Alando Tucker.

How has Tucker been doing with Phoenix, I remember him being good in college, but I haven't followed him in the NBA

Even when all the contracts come off the books, I do not see the Hornets as big time FA players. Shinn has been burned too many times recently by big contracts to give even more out.
