Lewis lost the match by not being the aggressor and wrestling defensively. Congrats to Starocci , IMO he was never in doubt of losing

Wow what a story I bet, I wrestled D2 a few years ago my first two years but injuries got the best of me.
Wish I could’ve seen the Brands in their prime.
Hate the rule for Lewis to lose. Should have a third :30 period where you either escape or ride for the win like in high school

Yeah, I’m very indifferent on the OT rules. Hell of a match!
The Brands were a different breed. They were both hated and respected at the same time. They changed wrestling to a large extent. How I described them back then is a bit different than how I would today. I thought no one could hate losing more than me, until I encountered the Brands. They didn’t lose often tho, which was a good thing for anyone or anything they came across afterwards. Their passion was unmatched.

Penn State wrestlers are so smart . They just get it … it also helps training and wrestling everyday in practice with guys that are national champions. Iron sharpens iron

What Cael has done at Penn St is beyond unreal. He does nothing but pump out national championships. There’s really no words to adequately describe that level of success.

I agree 100%. I was fortunate enough to begin wrestling when I was 10 yrs old (late70’s) and won a HS State Championship at 185 lbs.
As a teenager, myself and others attended Summer camps at Iowa and believed no one would ever equal or surpass Dan Gable as a wrestler or coach. Cael Sanderson will surpass every Gable coaching record when he’s done.

Undefeated in College. 4x National Champ as a wrestler
A Good Metal
And now just dominating as a coach.
Is there a comp?
