The body slam was unrelated to scoring a goal. It's because he hit Holtby in the head with his stick on a cover up. And J-Will busted out a WWE move. Jesus. Overkill much?

Yakupov to Paajarvi for a Blues goal is probably the strangest thing so far this season.

Stars getting beat up as far as SOG but scoring chances are fairly even. There's more goals left from both teams it feels like, but time for Stars too add some more empty netters.

STARS GOAL!!!!

3-pointer in Pittsburgh. Caps are very fortunate to get out of that final minute and half without giving up a goal. Pens had two gift-wrapped chances.

Side note: Razor and Ludwig have been pretty good on the call tonight. Kinda enjoy hearing Razor call the PBP, or anything for that matter. Thinking about Strader, but have been pleasantly surprised.

Fun game. OT was a blast, but you can't have half a dozen chances in the OT and not bury one. Karma will bury you in the shootout. Letang was the best player on the ice, he saved about two sure goals in the OT and put in a silky smooth SO goal. No complaints on an opening night, when both teams were about 10% off. Just not crisp on the passing yet on either side.

These teams are gonna destroy the Metro, which looks pretty pedestrian.

Niemi killed it tonight. Stars recovered nicely after that slow start. Good guys won.

honestly for how many neautral zone turnovers we had, we stayed pretty solid defensively in the first 20-30 minutes. the latter half of the 2nd period was somewhat odd, but what an answer in the 3rd and then the high press took over

and yeah, Niemi was rock solid tonight. it was sloppy but two years ago we would've folded after the ducks scored

eta: even on opening night(I know) its very apparent that this board's fandom generally ends at I-35

Niemi was really solid. Looks like Benn and Seguin are already in a pretty good rhythm even though it didn't produce any goals, they had some really good looks.

Once Ruff took Jordie away from Klingberg after the 1st period the D looked like they settled in. Not too bad of a first game though. Nice to see Niemi looking pretty sharp to start the season. Couple of huge saves in the third!

Had a blast last night - got to fistbump the team as they came off the ice from warm-ups. Spent most of the time heckling Getzlaf while a lot of the people normally in the section were too busy playing on their damn phones for 3/4 of the game.
