It's gonna take Kelly 2-3 years to get Notre Dame back to being really competitive. He doesn't have much to work with right now.

Kelly won big at all lower and mid levels of college football. Just like Tressel and Meyer. So is he the next Tressel and Meyer? Or the next Dan Hawkins or Dennis Franchione?
I think he will need to go to a more run heavy offense down the line to play to the natural strengths of ND (and the midwest). Physical OL and good running games. The passing spread is not a BCS championship type offense in my opinion. He also may need to fire a few assistants who have been with him for a long time. He basically brought his small time staff with him from Cincy.
