Problems all around.
Breaking up Carolina from the other Southern teams is a bad idea. Unless the NHL is conceding that all four (including Dallas) will move or fold.
Dallas avoids PST travel but ends up with three teams it has serious trouble beating (Chicago, Nashville, and Columbus, not to mention Detroit). But when Dallas moves to Seattle and Phoenix to wherever, they can made swaps easier.

Caps finally won a game, but the regular season means jack. Caps have been the best team for two of the past three years, while teams who barely made the playoffs then go off an win the Cup.
