Orpik destroyed Toews with a massive hit and now Toews is hurt and heading to the locker room.

There is no "4 seed". Playoffs will be done by division. Top 3 teams from each division. Then the two wild crads got slotted into the final spot in the divisional playoffs with the #7 team playing the weaker division champ. But then you are within the division for the next round.

Targeted the head, left his skates, put him into the boards.
Orpik is getting suspended for a very long time for that hit. That wasn't even marginal. Watch Toews head rock back and forth at the end of it.
Here's another angle:
And it doesn't need to be called a penalty to result in suspension. The league will certainly look at that. That's an incredibly dirty hit.

Lol no.
Wasn't even a called penalty. Didn't leave skates, and hit his shoulder.
Such a bad troll.

I'm not really seeing an incredibly dirty hit.
He didn't launch, he led with his shoulder. Maybe elbowing but that would be a stretch. I don't think it was charging, didn't skate into him and didn't leave his feet.
And he made contact with Toews' shoulder. The issue is Toews didn't keep his head up until the last split second and he paid for it.

Great article about Orpik's clean hit, and bashing Milbury/NBCSN.
The NHL announced they would not even be reviewing the hit, as it was clean, and no suspension.
Hey baloo.
Great article about Orpik's clean hit, and bashing Milbury/NBCSN.

We beg for players to play the game right, to deliver hits that are clean. And then, because the player on the receiving end has name recognition, their reward is accepting fists to the face. Do your job right, do it well, do it within the confines of legality; and then because someone disagreed with the outcome, get punched in the face for it.
The hell?
On Sunday night, Brooks Orpik of the Pittsburgh Penguins delivered a clean hit on a player with name recognition: Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks.
quote:
Toews tried to play the puck on the forecheck; Orpik zoomed in and demolished him with a check to the shoulder that sent Toews into the boards, injuring his shoulder. Orpik exploded into the hit, his skates leaving the ice after impact.
It was a hellacious check by one of the NHL’s best hitters, injuring one of the NHL’s best players. Was it headhunting? No. Was it a defender taking liberties with an opponent? No, unless we’ve redefined any hard check in the game as “borderline.”

If Cindy Crosby was the recipient of that exact same hit I guarantee you there would be a suspension handed down by Shanny. & we all know you are dumb & blind from your previous post history; So you justifying a questionable hit is NOT surprising at all.
Also this Greg Wyshynski article you linked is an obvious attempt to just troll / berate M. Milbury & NHL fans. & of course you think this Wyshynski fellow has an infinite more hockey knowledge than Milbury
Hey admins this toolbag needs his own place to play is there any chance we could prevent this moron from posting in just the NHL threads in which he just trolls&trolls?

Well, in Wysh's defense, Milbury's solution is even worse. Milbury was saying the Hawks should just go out and beat the crap out of Orpik and they are too soft for having done nothing. Which is even dumber than just suspending the guy.
The Shanahan Wheel O Justice is such a running joke at this point, it has its own website. No, really. (LINK But I'm not surprised the league is lining up to defend the Pens like it always does.
But, I say look at those gifs and look for the elements of a suspendable hit:
Did he leave his feet?
Did he leave his feet before contact?
Is the head the principle point of contact?
Does the player have the puck?
Is he "defenseless"? Can he see the hit coming?
Orpik clearly leaves both feet, the question is whether its right before or right after making contact. I don't see how you can't see Orpik's elbow in Toews' head, but whatever. Toews doesn't have the puck, though he has just gotten rid of it. As the resident Pen homer has admitted, Toews didn't see it coming, so he was "defenseless" by the terms of the NHL.
It's a dirty fricking hit. And it's a dirty hit against one of the league's biggest stars. But that's been the Penguin Way for a few years now -- goon it up with some serious dirty players (oh, but Cooke has reformed, pay no attention to this dirty hit, or this one, those were accidents), and then whine to the league for special protections for your own stars.
Open season on Crosby, boys.

you're an idiot, Bylsma runs one of the cleanest teams in the league. shut up, you're just fired up about your boy getting hit one time and leaving with a boo boo. this is the NHL not the MLS, so just save your drama and go on your way.
Cooke doesn't even play with the Pens for the very reason that he WAS still taking bad penalties, so wrong again, chief.

One of the few times I'll agree with a Pens fan, especially UltimateHog. Hit was clean, definitely did not deserve a suspension.

Crosby assist for point number 100.

2-0 CBJ over the Avalanche with 2 goals in the 2nd period

CBJ blew it in the 3rd and lost in OT.

Doesn't matter. Caps are tanking, as are the Leafs. Jackets are gonna make the playoffs. Can't say I'm upset by that. Jackets fans need something good.
