You mean the Jackets come through for the Avs. Pretty sure ever fricking Avs goal went off the Jackets. Epic fricking CBJ collapse.

Ovechkin doing his usual and not hustling even at all leading to a goal, was on PTI, classic.

They said Washington should trade him.

Probably smart, pretty clear it's not working in Wash, Ovechkin isn't a player you can build a team around, he's a player you add as a piece. Not a captain.

It would be idiotic to trade Ovechkin. Only a fricking moron would suggest it... like Milbury (or PTI). There are lots of things wrong with the Caps, having a generational talent with three MVP awards and currently leading the NHL in goals scored is not one of them. Playing him with Jay Beagle and a left winger who can't shoot probably is. His linemates are shooting 2% on the season. Two.

This is a team that has clearly given up on its coach. In a must-win game, the Caps got their doors blown off 5-0. The game was over midway through the second, and everyone played like it. This is team that is playing in a way that screams "please fire this coach." Dustin Penner was on the 1st line of the best offense in hockey (coached by the Caps last coach). Since coming to Washington, he's averaging under 6 minutes a night and he's playing in the fourth line. I mean... WTF?

This is like when the Caps lost to the Habs and everybody flooded to show off their expertise and said the Caps need to stop playing firewagon hockey. I said that was a remarkably stupid idea, but they listened to the "experts" and what "everybody knows". All they have done is managed to clip the best offense in hockey with no magical improvement in defense. This is the mark of a bad organization -- asking not what can you players do be focusing on what they can't and trying to shove them in that square hole.

The Caps never should've gonna way from firewagon hockey. Now they are a round peg stuck in a square hole, listening to stupid suggestions from people who have already given them staggeringly bad advice. Stop being what you're not. Stop listening to conventional wisdom.

fricking play attacking hockey. You have a team built to attack, and instead you're playing dump and chase. It's beyond idiotic.

No one should listen to PTI when it comes to hockey. Ever.

Columbus vs Philly tonight, should be a great one. Not much love lost between these two, no where close to Pitt v Philly, but some of these guys know each other well.

It's a big one for the CBJ that are 79.9% favorite to make the playoffs for the 2nd time in team history.

ETA: With a win tonight the Blue Jackets would be over a 90% favorite to make the playoffs and increase their odds of bringing Lord Stanley's cup to Columbus by .1%

Of course his trade value is high... HE'S AWESOME. When will Kane's trade value be higher? Or Crosby? Or Tavares? But those teams aren't trading those guys because they aren't run by a giant bucket of stupid.

How does trading far and away your best player, a guy who accounts for nearly one fourth of your offense, make you any better?

What the Caps need is for the defensemen not to horribly regress (looking at you, Alzner) and their young, cost-controlled pieces not to suck out loud (MoJo, Orlov, Wilson, etc.) Though I do blame Orlov's inability to crack the top 4 on the coaches. Then again, the coaches are currently playing both MoJo and Grabbo as left wings right not, so Beagle can play on the top line, Fehr can play center, and Penner doesn't get top 6 minutes. How about playing your centers at center, especially since that's where the team is thinnest? Novel concept.

I think his point was that at this point it may be more beneficial to just blow it up and gain a whole bunch of great young guys and picks since it clearly isn't working in Washington.

Here's the irony: the Caps are still one of the youngest teams in the NHL. There's only three active players on the roster over the age of 30, and one of them is a clearly disfavored Penner.

Also, plenty of contracts come off the books after next year. The roster is fairly set for next year, and the Caps have one of the longest runs of making the playoffs (the Bolts and Flyers both missed last year, and now are contenders). Is the problem really the roster? I think the pieces are there, just criminally misused right now.

This is a team built to run and gun, and they are trying to play ground and pound. It's just stupid. they don't need a new car, in this analogy, they need a new driver. It's like driving a Ferrari with the parking brake on and then blaming it on the engine.

I do think the parts are there to contend right now. They are just using the parts in the worst way imaginable. This is a team with 10 guys who have scored 20 goals plus Kuznetsov. That's a deep roster of goal scorers. Let them loose.

I don't watch the Caps at all so I have no valuable input.

The CBJ could use some of those goal scorers though, we have ground and pounded our little hearts out this year.

Paul Martin returns for the Pens tonight. Thank god, no more Engelland.

Now we can put Maatta back with Niskanen.

Still no word on Letang, continues to practice full go and participate in game day skates, fully cleared to return. It's all mental right now, he gets to choose when he returns.
