even when they had a "great" offense (in 2005 and 06), it was pretty simple

tres is just a pussy

that 4th and 2 call was retarded

Knee jerk says it'll be worse than this but we'll have a better read after the San Jose State game.

What a shocker, Ohio State is overrated again. They are going to get stomped by USC. This is looking good for both Ole Miss and LSU in the rankings. Virginia Tech and Bama are both above us, and Ohio State will certainly lose to USC. As long as we manage to get by USCe, we should be 5 or 6 in the nation when we face Bama.

OSU will probably lose one game this year to USC. 1st game jitters are possible for any team! You have to think Buckeye was looking forward to next week!

Navy is actually becoming a pretty legit program, but Ohio State at #6 is laughable.

IMO any team ranked anywhere before at least 3 games is a fricking joke.

They were legit 50 years ago.

they are very disciplined and know how to run that offense, which can be hard to defend if you are not used to it... i wouldnt read too much into it. I believe they will lose to USC but that it could be pretty close.

That 4th down call was one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen. Besides the fact that it's obvious you make it a 3 possession game midway through the 4th, which would essentially eliminate all hope of a comeback and take away any life from Navy, your OL has consistently had problems in the past in 4th and short situations when you try to power it. I was shaking my head in disbelief when he left the O out there, as some idiots around me were cheering.

Pryor looked good running, not surprisingly. I think he was hot and cold passing. Made some nice throws, missed on a few relatively easy ones. The WRs were pretty solid today. The ball was spread around a lot, which was nice to see. Boom and Saine broke a few tackles, but weren't particularly impressive, but they didn't get much help. The OL had a few good plays, but like the story of the past few years, were mostly ineffective, or just plain bad.

The only two people that really impressed me on D were Coleman and Rolle. I liked the way Rolle attacked the ballcarrier. Coleman obviously played apart in two turnovers, and looked like the only DB that had a good game in coverage. Russell was awful. I wasn't too excited by Chekwa's play. Gibson had a few good plays, but disappeared a few others. Williams didn't look too bad. The DT's really didn't look that good. Kind of disappointing, obviously, but we'll really see what this team is made of next week.

Somebody around me said that Tress mentioned he had planned to play Bauserman a series. I hadn't heard anything about this, but I guess it's true. I really don't know why. If you want to get everyone time in an opening game, schedule a Akron, Kent St, or Miami. Not a decent team like Navy.

Your Irish are looking very solid so far.

yeah navy isnt as bad as everyone is making them out to be, very physical team. with an exceptional qb (besides the last play, ha)

but yeah, notre dame looks solid, i cant complain. michigan game looks like it might be a good one, so slightly worried about that now.

Just got home - I have lots of thoughts if anybody cares. Overall I'm happy with how things went as strange as that probably sounds. Totally different feel than that OU game last year, for example.

And the Bauserman series was planned from the get go.

Jermale Hines is a fricking beast.

Yeah, they're not a world-beater or anything, and we'll have to play much better to beat USC (which I still think/hope we can do), but they're not Northern Iowa or Syracuse, either.

I'm very surprised by the Michigan score. Haven't seen any of the game, but seems like they've improved a lot.

I get what you're saying. I feel like we deserved to win this game, unlike last year against OU, where I feel like we stole it from them. And obviously, Navy's a much better team than Ohio. Still, very scared for next week. Hopefully, we'll get it done.

I feel like this team has lots of fixable issues, and the ceiling is much higher than it has been the past two seasons. Scary that the offense is better than the defense right now, but at the same time I think the D will come around and be fine.

The thing, too, is you really from a D standpoint can't use this game too much to tell how we'll play against USC. Maybe our D just isn't made to perform outstandingly against an option team like that, IDK. USC's an entirely different offense. On the Fan on the way home, they said the long TD pass in the 4th was a result of a miscommunication in the secondary, where Russell thought he had help on the inside and didn't, or something, and if that's the case, I feel a little better, since stuff like that's easily correctable.
