Oklahoma has been just as consistent, if not more so, than LSU. Since 2000 they have won their conference 8 times. LSU has 3 conference titles in that same time period. They have been to 8 BCS games in that time period. LSU has been to 5. Of those 8 BCS appearances, 4 of them were made in the national title game. LSU has appeared in the national title game 3 times. Granted LSU has won more national titles over that time period (2 vs. 1).

Yes but... the SEC has had Auburn, Alabama, Florida win a total of six national championships in that time frame... is it fair to make the conference championships/BCS appearances comparisons straight up when LSU is being beaten out by programs who won national championships?

Texas/OU: Increasing instate competition and laziness has eliminated their advantage in the B12, and has OSU and Baylor to now run that conference

Really on a trending decline:

Virginia Tech
Nebraska (settled into plateau)
Boise
Florida (if this keeps up, TBD)
Texas (4 years of mediocrity)
Iowa
Wisconsin
TCU

Nebraska is the epitome of a declined program. They were so dominant in the mid 90's after decades of being an NC contender on the reg. The lack of top 10 finishes would stun a husker fan from the 70's - 90's.

In theory, Alabama has nowhere to go but down. So unless they start going unbeaten for a couple of straight years, then they will "decline".

B1G - Nebraska and Penn St (this is really hurting the conference)
ACC - Virginia Tech
B12 - Texas, TCU
SEC - Tennessee, Georgia, Florida
PAC - Oregon (next year will tell the truth)

With that being said, every one of those schools can turn it around.

Averaged more than 10 wins a season for a decade before going 7-6 last year.

I think Oregon and Stanford are both ridiculous suggestions of programs on the decline.

A real, long-term decline of once great programs... Notre Dame

Notre Dame hasnt had a losing season in 4+ years now, went 12-1 in 2012, played in the national title, and continues to bring in top 10 recruiting classes. They have also played in 3 BCS bowl games. Not to mention, they have one of the best coaches in the country.

They are not *elite* but still a top 10-15 program.

I still think BOB will get things going at PSU.

They've unfortunately haven't been very good this decade (except 2012). Next year is huge on WM.

I don't get how people are saying Iowa.

They've been doing the same thing for the last decade: have a great season, have high expectations for the next season and under perform, fly under the radar the next year and overachieve. Its a constant cycle. They actually have put together a solid season this year but everybody wrote them off after week one.
