Phil should have kept his mouth shut and not look like a sore losing brat. He is not the end all be all that he thinks he is.

He was calling out Phil for airing this dirty laundry right after the match, and how it's an example of behavior that keeps the us team from being unified like the euros.

That press conference told me a lot as to how we got beat by 5 points.

I think it's a combination of Tom having no strategy from the get go, then making decisions on the fly that any sane person would question. The other piece is the brilliant play by some of the euros. I think a better managed team would have kept it close but not sure they win.

Did Tom not give you an autograph at a tournament?

Yeah actually he raped me as a kid...glad I can finally get that out there.

Sorry I'm making rational criticisms of him and even sorrier that you are offended by it. I didn't say he list the cup but I also don't think he put the team in the best position to win.

I'm not offended, just puzzled. Tom had 5 vice captains that he relied on heavily. He listened to and considered their inputs, but he ultimately had the final call. That's a universal management concept.

I'm equally puzzled by why everyone is putting the blame on Watson almost unanimously. I'm in the minority I guess thinking he Euros just flat arse outplayed us.

I think the Europeans view the Ryder Cup as a challenge, the the US players view it as taking away from their offseason vacation. The Ryder Cup is clearly more important to the Europeans than the Americans.

Frick Tom Watson. Webb Simpson was a terrible captians choice. Sitting FMFP and Spieth on Friday afternoon killed any shot the U.S. had a making it respectable. Watson was out of touch and sleepy.

Wow.
They should all just pack up the leftover BLT material and hit the road.
Don't think we'll see old capt watson and Phil around each other at another Ryder cup.

Hell, if we just put the ex UGA golfers on the Ryder Cup Team, I bet we win this damn thing.

By the way, I hate Reed…but after this Ryder Cup, I respect him. Dude has fire. Spieth needs more seasoning, kid is legit. I think Watson just skull fricked Ricky and Walker…played them in matches making them physically and mentally spent.

It started with the Webb pick, then followed with the decision to send out Watson and Webb first, who arent in great form and got steamrolled. Continued with his decision to put Keegan and Phil out again after, although winning, played poorly in the morning. Then benching them completely in Saturday and riding rickie into the dirt after not actually winning any of his first 3 matches.

Also some questionable decisions on who to put out in bad weather on Friday.

It's weird to me that you are puzzled by people second guessing a coach of a losing team...happens 100% of the time!

I can't understand why this is even being discussed anymore.
We all know it, Phil knows it, and finally somebody with the balls and platform came out and said it.
Bramble is dead wrong on this one. He's got some ulterior motive for making those comments.

I don't think Tom deserves "All the blame", but he deserves a lot of it. How many points did his captain's picks get? Yet he ran out a captain's pick in the very first match of the Cup and got trounced. He played another captain's pick 4 times, and that pick went 1-2-1. Watson seemed to have Fowler matched up against Europe's best in every match. Fowler was forced to play perfect golf, and he isn't ready for that.

I don't blame Phil for openly criticizing. They are all grown men, and the Cup is over. Watson won't be the captain next time. Phil played the good teammate role yesterday. Phil went 2-1 in his matches. He earned the right to complain.

Of course, another Watson (Bubba) was absolutely terrible this weekend.

Watson didn't play very well this week.
