Simpson's staff isn't very deep, but they are developing some young guys. The #1 right now is a Soph who won't overpower you but locates well and mixes his pitches. Beyond him we have 4 kids working for the #2 spot. One Jr pitched well in a win against Glenmora.

Sounds like the rest of the state. Moat teams have one or maybe two horses and then have to piece it together after that. I know the two pitchers that squared off against each other last Saturday at oak hill tourny in the maurepas vs oak hill game were good. The kid from maurepas may very well be the best player in the state. And the lefty from OH will pose tons of problems for opposing hitters. Maurepas has another talented lefty that throws pretty hard and has a good slider.

Can anyone confirm that the young stud from converse is back this year? I think he was a soph last year.

I'm pretty sure he's back corn dawg, he's a pretty polished pitcher from what I saw in the playoffs last year...how well do oak hil and maurepas hit the ball??The scores show a 1 to 0 game are those two pitchers that dominant??

The only thing we heard from the tournament was the Maurepas kid hitting 3 bombs in one game. They said on one of them he stopped on the way to first and posed like he was taking a picture of it. The opposing coach said he wasn't offended because he hit it so far.

It's hard to comment on the hitting this early in the season. Often, pitching is a little ahead of hitting this early on. Both teams possess some capable hitters but it was just one of those games. Maurepas lineup should be better when the lefty is back from the hand injury. I think both teams can potentially score a lot of runs against a little less quality of pitching. But the old adage in baseball that good pitching beats good hitting all day long. It's even the case at the highest level.

Not sure of the talent they have... But the style of "small" ball they play puts them in a ton of games where they maybe out matched talent wise. Very well coached team!

I hear the coach from Maurepas, the one called slim, has really slimmed down. Any truth to that? I hear he is nimble over there coaching third base now a days.
