I wonder how Nipple Rings would do in relief. Guys like Wakefield I think do well because it is only 1-2 innings and in starts he looks good but unravels. AJ just fricking sucks. Period. Hughes will be a pen guy though, he did great in 2009.
I'm not sure how he would do really. If you would've asked this question a couple weeks ago, I would've said AJ would be awesome in the BP. But now, he sucks from the first pitch he throws. Where as a couple weeks ago he was solid for the first 2-3 innings and then imploded.
I don't think a single person in the organization knows what to do with him anymore.

I needed a good laugh. Thanks.
Yeah we don't have the best/2nd best offense in baseball...or best bullpen in the AL...or 3rd best overall staff in the AL.

This, this, this, this, motherfricking THIS.
Our rotation gets dogged so much. Yet we're still in the top 3 in the AL.
I almost want to go back and look up the posts when the Yankees signed Garcia/Colon. I imagine there are some gems.

Not quite, the Braves have the best bullpen in baseball, a 2.90 ERA with a .217 BAA. And that is over 425 innings compared to 372 for the Yankees.

And the Braves also play in one of the weakest offensive divisions in baseball. Not to mention the AL is easily the superior offensive league.
Not taking anything away from the Braves at all, because they've been excellent this year. However, it's just my opinion that those numbers would be a little higher in the AL East.

Here are the call ups:
quote:
Jesus Montero
Easily the most discussed of the September call-ups, Montero is the Yankees top hitting prospect, and he’s the one call-up who could conceivably play his way into fairly steady playing time. Joe Girardi’s made it clear that he doesn’t plan to catch Montero regularly, but he’ll get chances to hit as a DH.
Chris Dickerson
The Yankees fifth outfielder for much of the season, Dickerson returns to that familiar role. As it is, the team has been using Andruw Jones at DH against lefties, leaving the Yankees without a true backup outfielder on those days. That seems to be Dickerson’s role: Defense, speed and insurance. He could be a strong platoon option, if this outfielder weren’t so left-heavy as it is.
Brandon Laird
Primarily a third baseman — though he can play all four corners — Laird obviously gives the Yankees infield some additional depth while Alex Rodriguez is banged up and Derek Jeter has just returned from a mild knee injury. How much longer before Ramiro Pena joins the mix as well?
Scott Proctor
Easily the biggest surprise of the reported call-ups, Proctor gives the Yankees a seventh reliever for a bullpen that had been a man short for a few days. He was signed to a minor league deal not so long ago, and pitched in the majors with Atlanta earlier this year. I’m a bit surprised the Yankees didn’t call up a true long man — Lance Pendleton would have been an easy addition — but maybe they’re just going to wait until Hector Noesi can be recalled.

Yankees would have been screwed if not for those two pitching out of their behinds all year.

Yep. I don't even have a clue what the rotation would look like without them.

I hate Brett Gardner.
I know he's not playing tonight. Just pointing that out.

I love his approach to the game, his attitude, and what he brings to the team.
But there's just something I don't like about him. I can't really put a finger on it.
