good hire, hopefully we hit on some young position players ala Trout, Harper, Peterson, Machado etc.... sooner than later.
Yeah, hopefully we can hit on some once-in-a-generation type talents soon (not sure who Peterson is though).

Joc. Prob not the best example the way he faded in the second half.
ETA: He meant Pederson.

Those are all from the same generation tho
I was referring to Joc. He may spell it Pederson now that I think about it idk for sure
You're right 31 about his fade but damn the kid has Cody Johnsonesque power

We'd have to draft position players for this to happen. Maybe that changes some now.

Rutherford is the best shot for that this year. But there is probably a decent chance he is there at three as of now. With Hansen, Puk, and Pint also vying for that top spot. Would love for Rutherford and be able to pair him up with Maitland.

Here is Kiley's sortable draft board for the next three years that he released today:

Interesting to note that he has Rutherford as the third best position player.

The mixed use concept for around new stadium has been named "The Battery" and will feature offerings from H&F (steakhouse concept), Superica, Antico, Cru Wine Bar and Fox Bros. Renderings are up on Twitter.

MLBTR projects $4.9M salary for Shelby Miller, which would be a record for a starting pitcher's first year arbitration salary.

Someone make me a believer in Olivera.
I admittingly didn't watch much of the 2nd half of the season and pity those who did. But his offensive performance while not completely shitty, was underwhelming. Especially from someone that platooned. And from what I hear his defense was completely shitty.
Was it because he was coming off injury, learning curve, both? Or should we temper expectations down to where we can be happy with a .260 average with 12-14 home runs with below average defense?

I think he was ajusting, I am hopeful for a .280 hitter with 20 HR. He was progressing well in the minors before he got hurt.

Know much about his D? I guess I never really heard even reading his scouting reports a whole lot about his defense, and don't remember much talk about it here either. Can he be league average?
Posted on 10/19/15 at 12:49 pm to SwampDonks
Doubt it's worse than Chris Johnson. But I wouldn't expect him to win any gold gloves. I think it's average.

Thanks man.
Jace seemed to get a pass last year as well. Was anyone actually pleased with the season he put out on the field and are content with him being a starter for the next year or two? Not that we have any other options in house at the moment.

I am not a believer in Jace at all.
I think Olivera will be fine offensively, but I think he may find himself in left sooner rather than later.

Glad I'm not the only one being a Jace hater. No way in hell he should be a starting 2B on a MLB team. Maybe he can end up as a more shitty Omar Infante type. But that's about the only thing I expect. Will be very disappointed if he's starting day 1 next year.

I'm just gonna say this, I went to quite a few OKC Dodgers games this year, and Oliveria hit some of the hardest balls I've ever seen with a wood bat.
He and Seager were in a league of their own at the plate.

That's a solid top 10 and we should really add to that top end talent in the next 9 months.
Posted on 10/26/15 at 2:43 pm to SwampDonks
I think we may have 4 or 5 in the top 100 honestly.

Couple of interesting tibits from the BA chat today

quote:
Young arms, including Shae Simmons, Daniel Winkler and Jason Hursh, are the most likely guys to be slotted into the bullpen in 2016. Obviously Olivera will be an everyday guy in 2016, and Mallex Smith will be there sooner rather than later. Lucas Sims could be nestled into the back end of the rotation by 2017
quote:
On more than one occasion Allard was compared to "a smaller Kershaw," which is tremendous praise regardless of how you look at it. Given his back issues, the Braves won't rush him, especially in 2016. I see him spending most if not all of the upcoming season at Rome and then making a methodical annual climb through the system. I would guess his big league debut would not come before 2019.
quote:
There are so few true number one guys in the big leagues. In 2015, for example, there were no more than 10 true number one guys. With that said, Allard and Toussaint have the raw ability that many aces tend to possess. Fried, Soroka and Sims aren't far behind and could be at worst outstanding number twos if they continue to develop. Rarely do we see a situation like the current Mets with deGrom, Syndergaard and Harvey and even Matz, but the Braves' guys have the same type of potential. Granted, potential does not always lead to reality, but it is an intriguing situation.
