Buster Olney on Phillies & Braves NL East race..
"Olney’s breakdown of the race between the Braves and Phillies:
“The Phillies injuries and the lack of balance [in the heavily left-handed] lineup are real concerns. They won’t see right-handed pitching after the fifth or sixth inning this year. The starting pitching is obviously unbelievable, but I think these guys [Braves] are deeper than what they’re given credit for and if Derek Lowe can pitch like he did down the stretch, their pitching certainly is good enough to match up. If [Craig] Kimbrel and [Jonny] Venters can fill the back end of the bullpen, this is a real good team. The every day lineup is certainly better than what the Phillies have because of the concerns they have. Right now, they’re talking about [outfielder] Ben Francisco being the No. 5 hitter in that lineup [to replace the departed Jayson Werth] and that’s probably a tall order for him. They had 170 games lost to injuries last year in the infield. Jimmy Rollins’ OPS has gone down the last three years, since he won the MVP. [Chase] Utley’s OPS has dropped each of the last two years. [Ryan] Howard last year, because of the lack of depth in their lineup, saw a lot off-speed stuff away and it really seemed to affect them. [Placido] Polanco is 37 years old now and he had elbow trouble last year. They’re an older team. The question is, how do those injuries manifest themselves and do they have the depth to make up for it?”

yeah i really don't see this division being as one-sided as people think. like Olney points out.. Werth is gone, Rollins and Polanco are past their prime and injury prone and Howard isn't as good without that protection around him. i just need to see this Braves lineup in action before I give them too much of a chance. ATL pitching should be solid this year.

Phillies will definitely need a RH Bat before the deadline for Playoffs. Supposedly inquired about Ranger's Young, but Texas will want a lot. Plus, he's old, as too already the Phils, and Young has a hefty amount left in his contract(34 or 44M?)..
What about rekindling that Phat Albert for Ryan Howard trade talk? Bost and NYY don't need him..maybe LA or Anaheim.
I will not be surprised at all if Atlanta challenging for the East all year, they should be a playoff team, and are potentially a better hitting team than Philly, with strong staff, and talented pen.

Hmmm on ESPN huh. Think I'll take a late lunch so I can go home and watch a few innings. I'm assuming Delgado won't throw until late in the game like Vizcaino yesterday? Wish Jhey didn't tweak his groin yesterday!
Read yesterday where Vizcaino says he's been clocked at 100mph before and the Braves have clocked him at 98mph I believe. I didn't realize he had that much heat!

frick school for making me miss this game.
If I didn't have a test in my 1:30 class, I'd be skipping this class.

Most likely.
Wanna get these young guys some game action, but not against a team's lineup of mostly major league starters

Tigers have a solid lineup if they can get production out of young guys Jackson and Boesch

I just want to see Nasty Nate get a hit. If he can hit .250 I will feel so much better about this season.

JJ does not look good so far. A moonshot HR, and two long flies to the wall in RF.
