I think Castro has a much better hit tool than Simmons.
I see him as Alexei Ramirez-ish with less pop.

Yeah definitely. I was just thinking of the type of hitter (good average, slightly double digit power, 20 steals) rather than comparing him directly to Castro.
I don't think Simmons will be getting 200+ hits like Castro will every year.
eta: There really isn't a player out there that compares to Simmons very well. Not right now at least.

I'm with you now. Yeah, I can see that.

So is Simmons going to be the opening day starter? Going from A to the majors is quite the jump. I'm not convinced he can handle it.

I'd rather he than Pastornicky

Who knows what Fredi is going to do. But at the moment, both players are alternating games started.

Rather pastornicky for two months and delay simmons' clock as the worst case

I mean, if they are 100% convinced that he can handle major league pitching over the course of 162 games then go for it. Otherwise, take your lumps with Pastornicky at least until June.
I would just like to see how he does in AA or AAA before calling him up.

Looks like both Delgado and Teheran might be the only pitchers in today's game.

Yeah, kind of a shitty situation all around. Our SS position is a mess.

Any good baseball guys to follow on twitter for news other than the usual (DOB, Heyman, Rosenthal, Olney)?

Joe Posnanski is a good follow, but doesn't really do the news stuff.
Eric Freeman is good, but again, not really newsy.
Jon Paul Morosi is good for news.
