Balti is around 3-4 years away from being a legit contender. We have a surplus of pitching prospects.

1) I just realized that Nate has the 3rd best OBP of our regulars.

I didn't realize it until someone mentioned he had a much better OBP than Schafer a couple of weeks ago and I looked up. It really doesn't seem like he gets on base very often.

Nate's OBP is really good this year, despite a shitty average

He's almost has as many BB's as K's(36 to 38), that's incredible

but it helps out when he's batting 8 hole to get pitched around for the pitcher. If he's hitting leadoff, that OBP drops significantly

I've said this since the beginning of last year, this team needs speed, not power, to be a WS Contender

Put someone who can steal 40-50 bags at the top of the lineup, and can get on base at a good rate, and you put Prado in the 2 hole where he belongs, you have a VERY dangerous fricking team.

You are being modest. .449 OBP vs. .143. Nate does not have one walk hitting lead off

We would be disappointed with Adam Jones IMO

I don't want someone near the top of this lineup that struck out 119 times last year and walked a total of 23 times. We need someone who can handle the strike zone, and get on base at a better clip than .325, even though he'll bring decent power and a decent average. Even though we don't need his power.

We'd pay too much for a player we don't really need

Oh if Schafer could only get on base consistently. He would be a great leadoff guy. But he will never do it because he tries to pull the ball too much and he thinks he can hit home runs.

I'd JIMP

We had a chance on him this past offseason but nothing came of it. They won't get rid of him now.

Coco Crisp? A's can buy him out for $500k or give him $5.75 mil next year. seems to me like he'll be dealt. i doubt Oakland will catch the Angels or Rangers.

.305 OBP with an OPS+ of 90. Not worth it

I know the cards are contending but I don't watch them often and I remember last year their was a "schism"

I don't think I would mind having Bourn's speed. He's a fast little bugger but he fits last years philosophy of the braves.

Last year : small ball

This year: swing hard as frick and hope u hit it

Willingham too, if not hurt of late. Oakland will move vets for youth and salary relief..they have no fans in the seats.

He would be perfect, seriously.

His speed and defense are incredible, and just what this team needs. It's amazing what taking him off of steroids did to his career. So promising.

We ain't getting Kemp. If we were to get him, we are the best team in baseball, but don't worry about that cause WE AIN'T GETTING KEMP
