Why not? This is his best first round ever. It will take spectacular play from anyone else to beat him. He could actually walk away from the field.

Because the guys at Augusta did their job. Get Tiger an easy going. Its all balls to the wall now for the Augusta crew.

He has never been this close to the lead after the first round and has won four times and been close multiple other times. If he plays like this the only thing that matters is who is in second place. A Tiger/Phil pairing on Sunday would would be awesome though.

Except that this means he cant putt and the greens werent fast today so you can add 3-4 misses per round if the greens committee do their job thus coming with a 72 for Tiger.

Do you really think that pin placements are centered around one player? You don't get Augusta National. The pins are going to be in their traditional places and no one plays them better than Tiger, besides perhaps Jack.

Even though I have Tiger in the Golf Challenge, he will not win.
Couples, Kim and Phil will beat him .
Couples has been my favorite no matter who wins

Yea because I said pins. Check the yardage. Each player said it was one of the shortest tracks in the past years.....Geez wonder why...

Where did you get pins from? really?

I know when Tiger was doing his presser, he mentioned he thought that the day 1 pin placements were interesting and the scores reflected that. But I think they did that to get some low scores for before the weekend starts. I think today and the rest of the tournament is going to be tough. It's going to be a great weekend.

I think it was obvious that according to weather reports yesterday was supposed to be windy with sine rain mixed in-they likely set up the course to be fair considering the expected conditions. As you saw, when it wasn't very windy and there was just enough moisture to help the greens hold Augusta became much more playable for these guys

pretty much, remember that was the discussion from the beginning was whether or not Tiger would play in the afternoon the first day during TV coverage - which he did. Today his round will likely fall outside of TV coverage - but he will be featured on Masters.com it seems

I don't get why they're only doing 3 hours of coverage a day.

And the feature group coverage will pick up Tiger at the 10th and then follow him the rest of the way correct?

Not sure why they can't just follow the entire round.
