Thanks for making that the 20th post on the page, so we don't have to see it anymore. It's bad enough that all the football threads are about Decker and Jimmy G these days.

We will never see another grand slam won by a player with a 1-hand backhand.

I could throw in a bunch of disclaimers, but then it would lose a lot of the boldness. And it's not a dig at any particular player. It's just how I see the game changing.

You don't think Fed wins any more obviously?

Thiem and Tsetse are probably the last great hopes on that.

I honestly don't. As you guys mentioned in Cincy, he was servebotting his way through the tourney. Joker didn't even seem to be playing all that well and won the final in straights. To get broken 3 times in a match after going 100+ games without being broken... I mean all the signs are there. If he can't win Wimbledon, you can't like his chances at any of the other slams, especially with Rafa and Joker playing at their current level.

I guess it's not THAT bold really.

Thiem has to be the favorite to unseat Rafa at RG eventually though. But if Rafa can win the French another 3 or 4 times, there's no guarantee that Thiem will be the next-best clay player by then. Plus I'm already on record saying that he won't win a slam with his current coach, so I might as well double down.

Stan could still sneak up and steal a slam.

Time to fade poor Goffin in the heat again. He was close to dropping the 3rd yesterday to some no-name Italian and possibly being in trouble. I can't pass up +315 here on Haase. No backing out this time, as the longer the match goes on the more Goffin will struggle in theory. They have him on Court 10 in the mid afternoon.

Your hate list runs 1 deep and it's Shapo? Curious choice imho, but it's your world.

Nah, not betting related. I mean, I won less than I would have preferred, but it's peanuts either way. I guess he's a good kid if you compare him to someone like a Kyrgios, though he did almost cause permanent damage to a chair ump's eye. But it's not really that either.

He's just so annoying and punchable. Like Kvitova, he hits every shot as hard as he can and acts like it's a travesty when he misses by 9 feet, as if no ball should ever go out. Then when he finally lands one, it's cause for a huge celebration like he set up and played a great point.

Yeah, I know, he's still young. A lot of guys are young and still act like they've played tennis before. And if people can hate on players for butt picking or being smug, I don't feel bad for hating for legit reasons

Then I have no idea what "legit" means. Because even if that wasn't the clear-cut most confusing explanation of hatred for a player I have ever read, it was comfortably in the conversation.

"I don't like his oversize hats"
"I can't like anybody with a mother that strange looking"
"frick Wayne Gretzky"

Would have all been more convincing explanations.

That's the thing I don't understand. We all hate servebots, but the Shapo style is sort of the same concept, except from the baseline. Not sure why everyone calls that talent, but nobody treats serving the same way.

Sorry, dude, but it isn't even loosely resembling the same concept.

We hate servebots because they are good at tennis without being good at tennis.

Stole my line.

Roddick destroyed an entire generation of american tennis by setting an unsustainable precedent.

I'm a firm believer that the two-handed backhand is a superior product in virtually every respect save net play, and it blows my mind that kids are still coming up hitting one handers.

That being said, I'd be willing to bet a handsome handsome sum that your bold prediction won't stick.
