Some quick thoughts on the weekend now that I am back home.
Armstrong is a beautiful facility. If you have tickets in the lower section, you have great seats. During most of the day session that I was there, people could get in for standing room and upper level. I get the sense that it jams up when Ashe is done for the day. Yesterday, there was a huge line at Armstrong after Ashe was finished and I think you had day and night session people on the grounds trying to get in there. Despite being a great stadium, there is a bit of a weird energy-sapping feel to it. Maybe I wasn't there on the right day.
Ashe isn't too bad if you're only about ten rows up in the upper deck. The middle loge level is excellent. I think nosebleeds are worth it early in the tournament, even if you plan to just walk the grounds, just to have the rain insurance policy.
The best part of the experience to me is the practice courts and side court action. I was 10 feet behind Delpo watching him hit at court level. If you don't want to watch through the wind screens, you can go up in the bleachers for a cleaner look. I watched him, Serena, Svitolina, and Tsetse on the practice courts. I saw a little bit of Tsetse doubles and even enjoyed stuff like junior qualies.
Even though it was crowded on Labor Day weekend, I never really freaked out except in the Ashe concourses between sets and on the way out (for some reason they only had one open set of stairs for the upper concourse).
Doing a day/night double is a bad idea. I got through it because it cooled down later and the energy is awesome at night. But, you're going to tap out if one of the night matches goes long and you've been on the grounds since 11 am.

Good. I'm glad I don't have to listen to that bitch shriek any more.

Thanks for the info. I bookmarked it for possible future use.
Same for me at Indian Wells. Most of the time I'd rather watch no-names from the first row on a side court than players I've seen many times before on a main court.
Yep, yep, and yep. Learned this the hard way. We left in the middle of a good Bryans match one time because 14 hours of watching tennis in the extreme heat is way too much even for me. It's worse if you get there at 9 or 10 AM to see the practice courts, or if you spent the previous day doing all of the above.

Fed is 2 of 14 in the second set on first serve now. What is going on?

I hate that he bashes my trashy president, but Steve Kerr was absolute money with BG just now.

Nole is going to sodomize Roger.

What did Kerr say?
Yeah I was already planning to bet on Joker but this performance will mess up the odds.

Just really smooth talking about Roger visiting the team in Shanghai. Here is the story:
LINK
Immediately on the spot, gave an ice cold Nadal, Federer, Sampras, Djokovic, Laver tennis starting five. I would be cool if he threw in Borg. A commoner would have said guys like Connors, Mac, Agassi, Lendl without really knowing the numbers.

Fed looks better than Cincy but not much. I agree he's in deep doo doo against Novak

I thought I would see retirement before I saw him missing second serves 3 feet wide.
Posted on 9/3/18 at 9:31 pm to bayoucracka
yeah he ain't gonna get too many looks at free points on Wednesday. Novak looks like he's entering a second or third prime

BG dropping string knowledge. Fed uses natural gut in the mains and poly in the crosses I guess both at 58. There is no better string set up imo. Although as BG mentioned most like to string the poly 3 or 4 lbs less.

Yah, won’t be pretty if smug serves like this.

yeah he's gonna get destroyed on Wed if this serving keeps up

I like that BG texts Nate the big dog stringer from Priority One. I just wish I knew what the effect is having a cross 4 lbs more than the mains or vice versa. Once you go to a hybrid with two completely different materials, I can't imagine tweaking all of the different tensions on each to come up with the right recipe. Then, you adjust that per match as the conditions change. (billy just addressed some of this)
Roger is a mess.

Natural gut is superior to poly in every aspect except for spin. Poly is for spin. You want a more elastic "snap back" effect with poly so looser means more snap back if that makes senes

On the other hand, he had a couple set points to go up 2 sets with a 39% 1st-serve percentage... while we're all trashing him
