Me either. Why are they so concerned with what lil ole Louisiana Lafayette calls themselves. I guess they are worried about them taking recruits, oh wait they don't. LSU should be kicking arse in college football/basketball EVERY year since they don't have competition with instate recruiting.

Pesronally, I have an invested interest considering the majority of my in-laws went to SLI/USL/ULL. You should see the joy on their faces when I walk in the door the Sunday after LSU loses a big football game. I also work for a company out of Lafayette, and a couple of the ULL guys there hung up Alabama stuff in my working area after that loss. It's sad, but I think they get off more on LSU losing than they do ULL winning. It's quite sad, because I have some friends that went to ULL that are huge LSU fans as well.

There's a stupid agreement that Mo State can't have a law school and some other Master's programs to compete with Mizzou
That is not a bad idea. I wish Louisiana had more specialization.

One thing is for sure, Louisiana has far too many universities given the population of the state.

I don't get why people in Lafayette think it's alright for them to go by the University of Louisiana when thats not their name
Who gives a frick?

And all of them have far too many programs, thanks in part to Huey P. Long.

SE LA would seem to. With LSU, BRCC and UNO already, are SLU and USL -- excuse me, the University of Louisiana -- really needed? Not to mention McNeese and Nichols...

I like going to SLU fwiw. I like the small classes

OK, it's agreed. Only the University of Louisiana is expendable.

fwiw, I think Thibodaux would be a good place for a Community College.

If ULL would get rid of the dick envy and realize their actual cultural significance (and the fact that the university's French name is "l'Université des Acadiens"), it might realize that "The University of Acadiana" would be a perfect fit. Trying to get anyone outside of Lafayette to catch on to "UL" is never going to work. "Acadiana" would be a really unique moniker. I'd dig it.

My god son you are a fricking idiot. We don't have dick envy, the UL name is all about trying to better ourselves. It has nothing to do with LSU, the LSU fans (most of whom didn't go to college) are just the most insecure group of retards ever assembled.

If ULL's 20 fans didn't have dick envy, they'd all also be LSU fans because they'd see the obvious difference in the two, much like 99% of ULM fans have nothing at all against LSU.
"UL" isn't a natural fit for ULL like "UT" is a good fit for UT-Austin/-Knoxville or UGA is for UGA. It's a commuter school that was established as a university less than 50 years ago. ULL needs to know its place.

I prefer to use the term penis envy, it just sounds better.

if by less than 50 years ago you mean 1900, then yeah.

A couple of my friends from Lafayette (grads from ULL) wore some form of Ragin Cajun gear to the LSU/Ole Miss game (of course they were pulling for Ole Miss), and not one person said a word to them before, during or after the game. However, I've gone to support the Cajuns at basketball, football, and baseball games wearing my LSU hat. At each one of those events, I heard comments like "LSU sucks", "Go back to Baton Rouge", "take off that crap", etc. Also, if the ULL score is announced in Tiger Stadium, there is absolutely no reaction. Now, I've heard that isn't the case at the "Swamp" in Lafayette...

ULL was basically vo-tech before 1960.

shite happens, we have our retards just like LSU does. We were tailgating and listening to the LSU game before a UL game earlier in the year and some fans walked by and yelled Roll Tide so we told them to shut the frick up. Most of our fans support most Louisiana colleges, save La Tech.
