re: Trading Chris Paul... Should Bower Consider now?

Collison is playing well, but, I would not move Paul. I would trade West, no one will take Peja's contract. Collison could be offseason trade bait.
That said, I would listen to any offers made, but, you need an All-Star player in return, at least.

Too late to get the value needed. If trading Paul along with Peja and Okafor could have been done for a 1st in 2010 and 2012 along with rights to switch in 2011 as well as a young player and expiring contracts it would have been good. But now it will not have the same impact.
Now if the trade is this summer they can package Paul, Posey and Okafor together for a 2011 and 2013 1st along with expiring contracts and a young power player it could be worth it. But that is only if the Hornets would be willing to go above the cap to keep Collison and Thornton. An intersting move could be to use Paul to get Cousins.....Collison, Thornton and Cousins would work out nice next to West.
I still say the best move will be trading Peja, Peterson, and Songalia to a team that wants to make a move for 2011's free agents. Getting back a good player and picks could be possible from a team clearing cap space.

the problem is he doesn't make enough to net a badass in return
now peja's expiring + collison? hell that could get us amare next year (if he opts-in for 1 more year)
if not amare (at this point i don't know how he'd help the hornets), somebody of that caliber

a player we depend on for 38 minutes a game is a higher priority than that of one who plays for 10 minutes a game.
I agree, that position is slightly higher in terms of need, but still puts us in the same position somewhat. Ok, you get a good 2 to play with CP. Second quarter comes around, and you have a shite 2 and an even shittier 1. What's that solve?

No not somewhat. We'd pickup up somebody who can play the point for 10 minutes.

You make that sound incredibly easy. Why has it taken us this long to finally have a serviceable backup?

Only if he could get 1 of about 4 or 5 players, and that won't happen. So, no. Not sure any player combination outside of a top 4 or 5 guy could work or be worth it.
I think you can look at some possibilities now that DC looks like a legit player at PG. But like someone else said, having 2 very high quality PGs puts you in a position that no other team has. That is extremely valuable and it's hard to find equal value to that situation.

Why am i having a debate about the need of a Brandon Roy vs a backup fricking point guard. Seriously, stop talking.

CP3 for Boobie Gibson and Jamario Moon.
Do it.
Do it.

EVERY time Collison has a decent game, do we have to have this thread?
CP3>>>>>>>>Collison
Unless you fear CP3 will not come back as the same player from his injury....

There are a hand full of elite superstars that are untradeable:
Kobe
Lebron
Durant
CP

this is the only legitimate reason to consider a trade...but then everyone else in the league would have the same concern, so you're not going to get the value anyway

CP3 being better than Collison does not mean you don't trade CP.
Is the downgrade of CP to DC worth the upgrade at getting another all-star at another position of need (2 or 3).
I would say Yes. Never have I said DC is better than CP.

Unless it's a sign and trade, not gonna happen and bosh will most likely be a max contract....

DC for Brandon Roy??????!!!?!?
You must mean that, because there's no way you are suggesting trading CP for Brandon Roy.

In a dream....
CP for Roy and Miller plus whatever to make it work would be DREAMY.

well like most say, unless you somehow get an elite player like a Wade or Lebron or Bosh or Amare then whats the point?
You have the best in the league at that position, so you need to basically get someone who is close to the best in the league as a 2-3 in return based on our team's needs....

Well duh, of course i'm wanting a top tier player in return. The point is we have a darn good PG option and it's been proven that teams are more likely to win with a more serviceable pg and stars at the other positions than a star pg with not much help. Look at how far Orlando went last year.

Then you know the trade can't work. You can't get Lebron, Kobe, DWade, Durant or D Howard.
