at this point we have to keep cp3 and play for making a run in 2011 and then re-signing him....any chance we can pick up a big free agent b/f the 2011 season? is anyone out there?

It is premature to think DC can fill CP3's shoes, but he is well on his way. If DC finishes this season strong, then you might be able to trade CP.......but only if the package is right. The trade will more than likely be between more than 2 teams, and will involve more than just CP. Just my 2 cents

The logical decision if DC continues to develop is to trade CP3 for a bevy of talent (if you can get such a deal).

Unfortunately the Hornets front office, owners, and fans are anything but logical. If we landed Roy, Fernandez, and a 1st or Durant and a 1st for CP3 I think the season ticket base would drop by 33%.

Durant is quickly becoming a superstar and one of the best players in the league. I think Hornets fans would happily trade CP and someone like Peja for Durant and a 1st rounder. CP3's injury is a very big red flag......hopefully he can return to form.

I will admit that our front office is one of the worst in the league

Don't say that on Hornets247.com. I'm about to get kicked off the site for arguing that CP3 isn't a top 3 player in the NBA (or even close).

Them: "Durant. What's he won? Talk to me when he makes the playoffs LOL"

It's incredibly frustrating.

I don't get why everyone is so quick to think trading CP3 is the way to go. You have 2 starting point guards on a team in need of a starting 2, 3, and 5. Trade the one that gets you the best return considering what you're giving up. It looks to me like you have a better shot at getting a good return on DC than CP3, but legit offers for both should be considered.

Most Hornets fans don't know a thing about basketball. But I'm fine with that as long as they buy tickets.

And btw, the admins removed my sig bc it was deemed inappropriate. It was the one you said about nola being a great place to live in.

It is getting to the point where the Hornets need to dismantle and rebuild. West, Peja, Mo Pete, and Posey all need to go. I'd be fine with CP getting traded as well, but only if the package is right.

Even if OKC wanted to trade Durant for Paul (they don't), it would be difficult because of how little Durant makes right now.

durant is the most untradeable guy in the league right now

Didnt it have profanity in it? That is probably why it was removed.

This thread is full of NBA ignorance

I think Durant is definitely out of the picture, OKC will not be parting with him anytime soon.

I'd like to get Gasol from Memphis, Butler from Dallas, and one other player. We will be in good shape once Peja and Mo Petes contracts are off the books

Durant is arguably the top player in the league right now when you factor in his low salary, his youth and his upside. Only LeBron is in the ballpark.

OKC is 2.5 games out of the 2nd seed and continuing to surge. They are going to be money for the next decade.

agreed

NOLA has the best PG in the League. The only way you trade the best anything in the League is for cap relief and young talent or young talent and unprotected draft picks.

Not to mention Shinn wont pay the luxury tax and the cap/luxury tax threshold is going DOWN for next year which means the Hornets will more than likely be dumping salary next season too.

You hit the nail on the head........when it comes down to it Shinn is the problem. An NBA franchise is not a way to make money, it's just a way for billionaires to pass time. Shinns net worth is $106M, in no way should he be the majority owner of any franchise.

And CP3 is not the best point guard in the league, at least not this season.
