Maybe I should rephrase this.......the front office needs to be cleaned out and replaced with people who have an understanding of the game. Spending over $12M for Posey and Mo Pete to ride the bench is mind numbing, especially in our small market. The people running the team are incompetent.

the problems began when allen bristow(GM from 04-05) stepped down in late 2005 and handed things over to bower. bristow's goal was to build a team of young athletic players that could run the floor with chris paul. bower takes over and immediately starts signing/trading for older players that are shooters more so than anything else.

He is still incredible, but not on the same level we have become accustom to. Thats why youth is sometimes the answer at guard. Sell high.

I don't see this at all. Not in his demeanor, which is as fiery and dedicated as ever, and not in his stats. He's shooting better from the field than at any other point in his career, he's shooting better from 3 than at any other point in his career, he's averaging practically the exact same number of assists, turnovers and rebounds, with shittier/older players than before. A 2 ppg drop in scoring average (this all straight off espn btw)?

I'm not trying to be an apologist or something, I just genuinely have not seen this drop-off in production that y'all are seeing. I don't know what I'm missing that you guys are seeing.

Why did Bristow step down?

As much as the Walrus has impressed this year by not completely destroying the franchise, he still needs to go, there's no doubt about that. There are ways to improve the team, between now and the 2012 season that everyone is so worried about, that don't involve trading CP3. This, IMO, is quicker route to that end-game.

for some reason bower puts an over reliance on the pick and pop game along with spot up jump shooters instead of players who can get their own shot. this team is built to have a center like tyson chandler at center.

Stats are misleading when you have only played 38 games in a season.

Before his injury he was playing at an insane level. I think he was shooting something like 53% at the beginning of the season, which is crazy for a 6' PG

They're only misleading if you haven't watched him play.

I don't know.....I have just been incredibly impressed with DC. When he went on that fast break last night and I saw his closing speed and then that dunk, it really opened up my eyes. The guy can flat out play.

''health reasons'' but the word is he didn't want to have any role in marketing and back at that time the Hornets had to have EVERY employee dedicated to market to OKC.

i wouldn't trade paul now, i say wait it out until a year or so before his contract is up and if it looks like he won't sign deal him and keep collison or vice versa.

I have had season tickets for every season they have been in New Orleans, so I have seen it all. Chris Paul is a special talent, no doubt about that at all

That's shitty, I'm just glad the Hornets came back and didn't stay up in OKC. And you cannot trade CP3 now because he wouldn't be able to pass a physical. If you are going to trade him, you do it at the end of next season. But I'd really like to hope the team would explore all options before shipping him out.

random thought: if the Hornets leave for Oklahoma City, do the Supersonics go to New Orleans?

I'd like to think so, but I don't think we had the pull to get them there. OKC had a very special deal in place to get the Sonics to relocate.

Paul on DC:

quote:

"How about my man, how about DC?" CP said.

That would be Darren Collison, a rookie quarterback who has taken over for the All-Pro point guard and had just come up with a 26-point performance that had a way of blunting the mini-runs of the visitors.

"Sure, DC had a stretch where he had a few turnovers, but he has shown us what a career is in front of him," Paul said. "I love the way DC takes advice. Sometimes I think I give too much. What I like about DC is, when he makes a mistake, he makes it at full speed. But that's exactly how he does damage, at full speed, shooting and getting the ball to the open man. I love it, love it, love it."

LINK

So is CP3 excited that he

A) Has a capable back up behind him
B) Has someone he can trade for help
C) Has an exit strategy that won't completely destroy the NBA in NOLA
