Title IX is killing them financially

I feel sorry for kids that are good in other sports. Football takes all the men’s scholarships. Female “athletes” have it made. The same people who fight for title IX now tell us there are no genders.

It killed Wrestling in the south. LSU had a respectable wrestling program well into the top 25 when Brodhead cancelled the program. The team won 7 SEC titles in under 20 years and finished 8th in the nation twice when it died due to Title IX in 1985.

Courts ruling on Title IX need to start using common sense in setting standards instead of exact numbers. As there is no women's sport with the numbers of players as football and as that sport supports ALL of the women's sports financially, an intelligent jurist would put a finger on the scale when implementing TItle IX.

You're right about USC's perimeter...and expanding, USC bought up the Hood to some degree.

It used to be, USC was a rich Island in a really bad area. You take one step off the safe campus and maybe bad stuff happens. That's no longer the case.

You have a safe corridor taking S Figuerora to downtown which I think made a huge difference.

If Cal can afford 27 Varsity sports(stanford has 36, not cal), why can't UCLA?

It's funny how he says he just walked around with 300 security guards. Well I would feel pretty comfortable myself.and if anyone thinks that UCLA is in a worse area than USC is just crazy...

Endowment. UCLA’s endowment pales in comparison to either Cal or Stanford.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of sports at Stanford and Cal are self funded. Meaning that each sport has to raise necessary funds in order to compete each year.

The school's endowment rarely if ever has anything to do with athletic scholarships or budget.
