wow, so after fedor turned down the ufc b/c of money, he doesn't even get paid in strikeforce what an old-washed up, former champ gets paid in the ufc. fedor must be getting extra money elsewhere. he would be a bigger draw in the ufc (than chuck) and bring in more money.

YEP.
people will still defend Fedor's negotiations by saying he gets ownership/management stake in whatever rinky dink (and rarely profitable) organization he is in at the time....but that's just a smokescreen, and his handlers were protecting him from losing.
Now that some shine has been knocked off of his image maybe they will realize that he now needs the UFC for some final big paydays.

It sounds more like Fedor makes a lot more outside the UFC than he would in the UFC
2009 SI story

Though Emelianenko is currently under contract to M-1 -- a company in which he owns a significant equity stake -- for three fights at $2 million a bout, the UFC proposed what all sides agreed was a very generous money offer.
However, "it does not give us a chance to do what we as a company, including Fedor, are wanting to and planning to do," said the fighter's long-time manager and partner, Vadim Finkelchtein.
Rumors of a six-fight, $30 million deal from the UFC were shot down by Emelianenko's camp. Sources inside M-1 Global told SI.com that the UFC offer was for half as many fights at a rate less than what Emelianenko currently receives from his promotional company.
quote:
"When I first read the UFC contract that was offered two years ago, I clearly understood they were trying to [expletive] me," he said defiantly. "If we got an offer two years ago that we received yesterday, maybe we would agree. But not in today's situation, we could not accept that offer."

although you have been trolling a touch lately with your MMA posts, I have to say I really do pretty much agree with this.

if for the last couple of years saying Fedor was more legend than reality at this point is trolling then i am guilty.
i also love seeing Lesnar and GSP dominate people, and really can't stand Penn.....so i guess my posts are the opposite of what a lot of folks on this board seem to think.

Nah, that is cool. I think you are a good poster and all, its just pretty obvious you go after some of the other posters with the Penn and Fedor comments though. There is def. a veil of truth to all your comments on both of them. As I mentioned before, I pretty much dead on agree with that Fedor statement.

Lesnar was saying he won't have to cut much if any at all

Here is my quick take on Lesnar / Carwin in some of the major categories.
1. Standup - Probably a wash. Carwin probably hits harder, but Brock hits plenty hard enough and may have more hand speed. Not sure about the reach, but I expect Brock to have greater reach. Technique is probably a wash. Bottom line, either can knock the other out.
2. Wrestling - Gotta go with Brock. Division I champ > Div II champ and Brock is bigger.
3. Cardio - I am going with Carwin. Brock has always been juiced big time. I am not saying he has poor Cardio, but I think Carwin's frame is a more natural one for his weight and size. Either way, a wrestler usually has a solid gas tank.
4. Submission - Who gives a shite. Not happening and neither will even try unless it is a RNC of a beat to hell opponent.
5. X-factor - Brock's long layoff. I think this is big. Carwin has been active. Brock has not fought in almost a year.
I am leaning slightly toward Brock right now since I think the fight gets to the ground quickly and this is the only category I see Brock having a real advantage in. I may change my mind come fight time though. Just too close to really call.

I'd give the standup to Carwin but in the clinch I'd probably give it to Brock. Brock still looks very raw in boxing he is still very robatic with his punches.

Brock has freakishly long arms if I remember correctly. He will have a decent reach advantage to use that probing jab.

The question is if Lesnar wants to take it to the ground, can Carwin stop him ?
If Carwin can't stop it from going to the ground, does he have a shot at all of winning ?

Carwin is one of the few people who can stop Brock from taking him down at will.
Lesnar's DII wrestling smack, weak.

Lesnar won't take him down at will, but I do think every round will end up on the ground with Lesnar on top.
