One more to show GSP's domination of BJ Penn.

I want to make sure you know that I don't agree that GSP dominated Penn and did not say that.

When I originally saw that post, I was counting down the seconds that Maximus would go off.

If B.J. pulls that off against GSP, getting Silva could be ugly at 185 IMO if he talks his way into that fight. He really is about the only guy out there that B.J. could realistically fight that could take it to him IMO.

i agree too.

theres no way frank mir hits as hard as fedor, kharitonov.

nog has fought much better fighters than mir.

i think the weight gain also slowed him down to an extent. he was much sharper in 2004-2006 when he was lighter.

all of the beatings Nog has taken finally caught up with him IMO

Again I disagree. I really think Nog's game plan was to beat Mir up standing and wasn't expecting the same tactic from Mir AT ALL. And really wasn't expecting to be getting beat badly in that arena. TO me it was a huge surprise. I always thought Mir had God awful standup.

Prior to their first fight in the UFC, all the Pride nut huggers thought Cro Cop, Wandy, and Big Nog would dominate. Hell many on Sherdog thought Heath Herring would clean out the UFC's HW division.

Now it is all-

Cro Cop is done after all his wars in Pride.

Wandy is done after all his wars in Pride.

Big Nog is done after all of his wars in Pride.

See a pattern?

I watched Pride as much as anyone, but I can now admit they were ridiculously over-rated.

The strange thing is the guys who weren' awesome in Pride seem to be doing better in UFC. Page and Silva mainly.

of course i see a pattern

but to me it seems you are insinuating nog was in his prime against frank mir.

there is just no way i can buy that. i mean hes had almost 40 fights and against some great fighters. of course something was going to give whether we like it or not.

he was much slower in this fight than sylvia and much slower than even against herring. im also thinking hes had some knee injury or something affecting his mobility before this fight.

fwiw i dont think cro cop was done physically after his fights in pride. i just think he was burned out mentally after winning the owgp. hell the guy had many k1 fights before that and was fighting for his country during the reign of milosevic, i think he is just somewhat burned out from fighting.

perhaps

but do you really think nog is in his prime at 32? i just find it hard to believe frank mir hits that much harder than fedor does. is he even more skilled than before hell yes.

a guy can only take so much punishment from so many fights. did i think nog was going to win yes.

nog and wandy are clearly done and yeah the vast majority of that came in pride, no doubt.
