Thiem tapped out after going too long in round one. I suspect Zverev and Nishikori might have the same things happen. This Djoker match went on insanely late. Looks like he will get through in straights. Third round is going to get spicy.
Thiem cost me 2 dimes by quitting

They're all attention hoarders. As in, females generally. This is a truism I would love to share with my younger self.
But, yeah, her body is working overtime right now.

Very promising to see Alex buckle down in that 5th set. An encouraging sign for his future GS hopes.

Serena is definitely winning this tournament.

Osaka may have something to say about that

Yes, something like "damn, Serena is playing better than at the Open"

I think Osaka is a rising star and probably a future #1 but Serena is probably gonna kill her the next time they play

MV's super-terse, hyperspeed, draw breakdown:
Novak Quadrant:
Not exactly the most straightforward draw for Novak in this one. He gets Shapov next, and then likely Daniil after that if he prevails. If he gets through those two, he'll likely routine Kei, who tends to start to break down at the end of majors if he's played long matches.
I'm not gonna pick against Novak, but would give a puncher's chance to both Shapov and Daniil to pull off an upset.
Alex Quadrant:
An easier road for Alex imho. I don't see him losing his next two matches Bolt should be straightforward, and dogshit Milos is, of course, dogshit. BUT....things could get tricky in the next round after that if Coric makes it through. Coric is in fine form and could definitely win that match. That might even be a match, if it does in fact happen, that I would say is a pickem.
Quadrant Smug:
I think Cilic will routine Verdasco and eek out a win in the next round against Swaggy KK. As I've noted elsewhere, I give a Fritz a chance at beating Federer, though ti certainly isn't the most likely outcome. If Fed makes it through that one he'll get either Teetsy or Basilash. Basilish is not to be slept on as he has been steadily rising in the rankings for some time, and is established himself as a guy who isn't going anywhere. I'll give the slight edge to the teetser.
I'm not sure smug makes it out of this one. I'd be a slight smug lean against Teetsy and also against Karen or Cilic....but I don't think he'll make it through both. I'll go with Cilic as my faint-hearted pick to make it out of this one. Thought it's completely wide open, in actuality.
TGGRN Quadrant:
I think Tiafoe will prevail in a close one over Seppi, and Grigs should advance as well. I'll go with Grigs over Tiafoe in that one. I'm picking Schwartzman to upset Berdych but then get worked over in the next round by Rafa, who will beat Demon, though probably not without getting tested a smidge...could see him dropping a set.
I don't see Rafa getting beaten in any of the next two. He'll make it out of this one.
Would love for TGGRN to play Fedsmug in the semis and avenge his 2017 loss, but, as noted above, I"m not completely confident they'll face each other.
I think Novak will beat Alex in the semi, and then win the tournament. But don't think it's like an airtight lock. Just the most likely scenario.

For anyone who likes money, I suggest a wager on Andreas Seppi.

Need Barty to finish this chick off, so I can see most of Fed tonight.
MV, Milos is playing really well and will beat Alex in the fourth round IMO.

I just don't think Fritz can take down Fed. I have a feeling Fed is going to play really well tonight

I have feeling it goes the distance.
I thought tsetse won the set a few minutes ago, but there was some weird correction and now he will probably go to a breaker in the third.

Shitpants has that perfect combo of douchey and overrated, rivaled only by Shapo.

I know y'all already know this but I still find it kind of weird (not in a bad way) that Fritz is married with a kid already.
