Money, grambling and southern makes ALOT more money in the bayou classic than they would in the playoffs. Some hbcu schools could legitamtely compete. Most would see a first or second round loss every year

The Ivy League doesn't participate in the playoffs either and they seem to be fine, although some ivy supporters would like to see it change.
True. But the Ivy doesn't participate for different reasons than the SWAC.
The MEAC used to not participate either. I think their winner and the SWAC winner used to play in the "Heritage Bowl" at the end of the season. But with the expansion of the playoffs the last several years, the MEAC actually got 2 teams into the tournament this year.

For the same reason as the Ivy League.

For all intents and purposes the SWAC should not be Division 1.
Every now in then in basketball they have a team or two that are Division 1 quality(like Southern last year) but for the most part they can't compete in terms of facilities, budgets, coaches, etc.
Only reason they are Division 1 is because they make a killing in basketball playing nothing but road games in November/December and collecting paychecks. But they could still do that as members of Division 2, 3, or even NAIA

Not to many teams in FCS has better facilities than Alabama St and Southern University. The SWAC has lead FCS in attendance every year except the year of Katrina . Y'all are so clueless lol.
