Tressel was head football coach! He was the principle representative of tOSU as far as football is concerned. As far as the NCAA is concerned, he was the university.

That's not how the NCAA operates.

In addition, if this was going on for 8 years then the NCAA may very well decide that someone other than Tressel had to have known.

Agreed.

AD and President are principle representatives. Sweatervest sits right below them though.

We are talking about the AD that made the comment that he was happy that Tressel hadn't fired him?

an absolutely horribly-timed joke. He's the president of the university, he should be astute enough to see how that was going to sound. And besides that, They didnt know because they didnt want to know. There investigaton into this matter lasted 11 days. 11 days.

shite flows down hill & always hits the lowest man first. First the loose bowels hit the players. They were thrown under the bus & it was said that they didn't know selling memorabilia was against the rules.

Then coach Tressel got hit with the crap crest after lying & being caught lying about knowing of his players actions.

Only time & the NCAA investigation will tell if the tOSU's AD & President will get hit with the flow of feces too. Only they know, right now, if they'll need raincoats & Lysol in the not too distant future.

Fine it was the president (and I know it was a joke), but my point is that Tressel had enough power and influence (hence the reason it was a joke at all) that I seriously doubt he will be considered a rogue individual, especially when this has gone unreported for 8 years.

For those of you complaining about how long this will take for the NCAA to put down a decision..the longer it takes the worse for tOSU.

If it takes 2-3 years for this to happen(which I doubt) then it will be 2-3 years of living in lingo, and them spiraling down..then when a sanction is given, it will get even worse.

Let's see if the new "High profile players require high profile enforcement" rule is used here. ( i doubt it will ever be used again; probably a Paul Dee one-hit wonder rule). Pryor was most definitely a high profile recruit/player.

Honestly, you can say I'm biased, but if this is it (and I acknowledge it may not be) I don't think so. You can put this all on Tressel not taking action, not on the university.

Chris Spielman (sp?) was just on Mike & Mike and said the punishment will be "USC + some".......so you better prepare for the worst.

Have you really convinced yourself of that or do you just keep saying it over and over so you'll believe it?

Tressel is the most hands on administrator for OSU and was flat out lying and covering shite up. Him quitting doesn't help OSU in their lack of institutional control issues. When your head coach is leading the cover up, you're gonna get buried.

It's gonna be bad because former players are coming out and admitting doing this stuff....just read a blog by former OSU basketball player saying that "everyone at OSU knew the football players drove nice cars..."

Sounds like a hater to me...but nonetheless this is the kind of stuff that will make things much worse.
