Someone made the correction but yea I was talking about Eastgate being considered by some as the best player to ever win a main event. I have never played with him or anyone on that list with the exception of Moneymaker so my opinion is not 1st hand info. I have just overheard this conversation between some very well respected players and while their opinion is by no means the gospel, they concluded that he was in their opinion the best player to ever win a main.

He is no doubt better than Phil. Phil gets a ton of exposure and has 10 (maybe 11 not sure) bracelets to back himself which he is quick to remind everyone of, And VERY impressive I might add. But imo the guys game is fundamentally bad which is obv when you see him playing hands on TV (atleast obv to me) I have never played with him but I have seen enough online and on TV to come the conclusion that he has not adjusted his game to todays level of play. This might sound odd but his game is respected by very FEW people who play the circuit. Here is just 1 example of how bad he can play:
Terrible

Maybe I can put it this way about Phil were it doesnt sound so mean. When he sits at the table he doesnt strike fear in anyone. He is just one of those players that you are never scared of when he sits down. Unlike names such as: Elky (who is the best nlh mtt player imo), JC Tran, Ivey, Hansen, Cantu, Nam Le, David Pham etc etc. I am really not trying to sound like an a-hole when it comes to Phil but it is what it is.

And yes I do agree, Mortensen didnt belong in the group with Raymer, Moneymaker, Hachem etc. He belonged in the list with Eastgate and Ferguson.

Phil lets people draw to their hands then loses his shite when they hit.

Sexton was about go get all up in Hellmuth's shite.

"Hey i'm still in the pot"

btw that was an instacall imo.

I think Jerry Yang is the one who deserves the least credit for winning

Why? He got super aggressive and pushed people off their hands. Then when they got tired of folding he usually got all the money in with the est hand.

Gold just flat out got lucky.

Yea I think everyone gets tired of his hollywood shite. As for the hand, it was an insta-get chips in the pot. He's got QQ with 15bb at a 6handed table and he is putting the initial raiser on AA/KK. It doesnt matter how tight the guy has been, to fold QQ right there is just down right awful. With his stack you dont really want to flat. The best way to get max value in that spot is to shove. Phils stack is awkward to 3bet so just go ahead and get in there. Im not sure what the guys stack was that raised but you just NEVER fold right there NEVER EVER EVER.

he even said "the last time i shoved like this the other guy instafolded" and still talked himself out of it.

lol..yang is a live 3-6 limit player..he got more lucky than anyone...ever

i was there..you guys are talking about what you saw on tv...i saw yang suck out for his entire tourney life---over, and over...his A4 vs AA(aipf) was prob my favorite..

-jamie gold actually has some tourney game..he is just a little too in love with making "the big bluff"...i'd put my money on gold wayyyy before yang...trust me
