Gladiator. Opening scene with the arrows is awesome. Lighting is very cool in the movie in HD - brings out vivid colors.

I saw part of one of the last Star Wars movies. It/they were filmed digitally and the picture was amazing. The story not so much.

Bad Boys II is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Filmed beautifully with incredible sound. Forget my other choices - go with this one first.

Casino Royale. Chase scene about 10 minutes into the movie. Has a couple of explosions that are awesome. Picture quality is one of the best on blue ray.

Tears of Sun with Bruce Willis is a good one as well.

Also

Stargate and Mr Brooks. Saw 5 is in 7.1 HD Master Audio and sounds ridiculously good but that doesn't help you.

I also agree that Dark Night is awesome. Especially the opening IMAX scene where they bust out the window. you can hear the glass pieces going everywhere. Pretty detailed.

I haven't watched Black Hawk Down on Blu Ray yet, but the sound on just the standard DVD was incredible.

It's a known fact that any HD system, big screen or sound system, should be tuned with the movie "Fifth Element".
Color range and sound range are the tops.
