Excellent call. I was thinking they were all close to one another because Mike had interacted with her (been at her home) in the past. My suggestion doesn't work now.

Walt is not a psychopath by any means. He is just a ball of anger, greed and ego.
The man Walt has become easily fits the definition.

He's no psychopath. He's in way over his head and he thinks he's a Gus/Mike type, but he's not.
Judging by his demeanor in the flash forward, it looks like he's about to lose everything and come crashing back down to Earth.

Maybe I'm hallucinating but I thought this was the explanation that Mike gave. Hence the tracking device was easily visible and they only checked one barrel.

As my late mother would say, Walt has "become too big for his britches." Heisenberg's dead, he just doesn't know it! Remember that little ditty from one of the earlier seasons?

don't think so, just the first half of the season, according to the Entertainment Weekly article released right before the first ep this season.
also in Parade (last Sunday) when asked if he thought there would be a movie, Cranston said he didn't know if it would be feasible in the end, that we would have to wait to see who is still alive when the dust finally settles.
the EW article had the actors all agreeing this thing really takes off by the end of the first half of the season and they are all glad it didn't end where it could have at the end of last season. so, those jumping ship may be doing so right when this thing really gets going.

Walt is highly manipulative and cunning. He has no remorse, and the negative consequences of his actions such as Hank getting shot, almost getting everyone killed, Skyler going crazy, etc have no effect on his behavior. He is engaging in criminal activity in the forms of cooking meth, money laundering, theft, fraud, and murder. He views other people as tools to further his goals, including poisoning a child. I could go on. And concerning what I said in my last message aside from the "psychopath" label:
quote:
I'm sure Skyler was so reassured of their safety after Walt related his heart-warming story about Jesse recently pointing a gun between his eyes, only to come around and give him a nice birthday present. Hell, Walt should have gone whole hog and told her he poisoned a child to do it, but he came out OK, and it was for family anyway, so it's all good, man. What normal, sane person wouldn't sleep like a baby after hearing all that? Skyler's such a ridiculous bitch!
If that and other things Walt has said didn't leave your jaw on the floor and make you say, "Good god, this man is crazy and evil," then I guess you don't really understand what's going on, or maybe you just haven't known anyone like this, who will tell you night is day with complete calm and belief in it concerning things he/she is doing that will destroy you if you don't get away.

Yada Yada Yada...Walt Jr. got breakfast. He was pissed when Skylar took his bacon.
Posted on 8/6/12 at 10:46 am to Cajun Revolution
I get the feeling Skylar may end up attempting to rat on Walt despite the fact she is dirty in the situation and he'll have no choice but to try to dispose of her.
Maybe not though cuz that is very predictable, which Gilligan is not.

To me, he keeps brushing with very bad things, but nothing dear to him has been taken away, yet.
If he actually killed Brock, if Hank had died or didn't make a full recovery, or he didn't have the fact that he is a DEA agent and is working to suppress the cartel, if Walter, Jr. or Skylar had actually died. Something making it impossible for Walt to compartmentalize the things that happened come about, Walt is going to break down.
A true "psychopath" is above all of that. Walt is all talk, and you know it. He can justify everything because the death around him happened to people willing to do him harm and the close calls to people he cares for have always been just that: close calls.

When it happens, it will only make him worse.

There's no reason whatsoever to believe Brock or Hank dying would've slowed Walt down in the slightest. If his whole family had been killed when he was just starting, maybe.

Yeah, and Ted Bundy blamed everything on porn.
Walt's rationalizations are just as superficial, and I thought they always were. No "normal" person gets some bad news and becomes a meth cook. Despite having seen all the bad consequences of his actions and the rationalizations he's had to adopt, "Nothing stops this train."

Thanks. I thought I read some place they had completed filming the entire "season."

if they just started writing the last 8 this month, the flash-foward scene at the start of this season, I wonder if this is going to occur at the end of this 8, or somewhere in the next 8?
It would be weird they would film something that far ahead if they are just writing now, and it would be clever to see what people are saying first - if they could - before closing it up to make it even better.
hmmmm

Spock, I'm with you. I can't say Walt is a rational man at all right now. He's so drunk with power. He's done and is doing insane things.
I just think a true psycho cannot be rattled with the reality of things as they happen around him, and I think Walt is about to get shook. I don't think you could "shake" Ted Bundy, but you can Walt, and the shite storm coming his way will do just that.
I am in no way in the justifying Walt's actions camp like you could have been in the first couple seasons

She was in Houston. Mike was in New Mexico so it wasn't him watching her but he could very easily have someone else keeping tabs on her.

Just started this show a few weeks back, finally got caught up tonight. I would watching them all in a row is the way to go. Almost felt like all the seasons took place in a week because of the continuity. After reading all the comments it's funny about the Skylar conversations. I was coming here to say the same thing. I just feel her character has no redeeming qualities and I dred all of her scenes. With that being said, she has a major part in the show and is the driving force for Walt's decision making for the most part. All in all the characters in this show are fantastic, especially Jesse.
