I know I'm going to get torn up for this, considering that most of his movies are pretty weak, but I think Matthew McConaughey has a lot of untapped potential. You see glimpses of it in Reign of Fire, Time to Kill, Frailty, Lone Star.

I actually like MM. But it seems like it's too focused on the "MM is hot, so come see this movie" angle in the last 5+ years or so.

A Time To Kill, Dazed and Confused, Reign of Fire, U-571, and Frailty are all badass. I even actually enjoyed Sahara.

Bale = best method actor of 1990-2008 imo

I'll take Daniel Day Lewis and Sean Penn over Bale right now in that time frame.

To me there is those 2 and Seymour Hoffman as the best character actors there is. Everyone else is a distant second IMHO. You could throw in Tom Hanks possibly, and no one else could even compare. But Character actors are few and far between. How many charactors have you watched and completely gotten lost in them? When you dont even see them as being that certain actor and only the character. Its not many if think about it.

I don't think he that great of an actor personally. One of the biggest movies of all time is the Dark Knight and I thought there could have been a better Batman. The whole Batman voice was stupid.
