Marvel and DC kind of pulled the rug out from the comic collecting boom in the 90's thru over-reliance on crossovers and multiverses and one-off's. Not sure how well the multiverse concept has translated into the MCU so far.

Quantamania didn't exactly set things on fire, even regardless of the Kang actor's problems.
