I think people are confusing when Lucious told Maximus who he was and Maximus looking nervous was some indicator. Maximus was scared someone might recognize him not that he just saw his son, though.

Yea I thought it was messed up, even in the first one during his triumph they were on sand. Probably a limitation of CGI at that time, but it's 2024, pretty sure they can solve that now.
