it may not by very realistic but i thought the theme of the movie was portrayed very well and and i think some of you are forgetting this...remember the quote at the beginning of the movie ("The rush of battle is a potent and often lethal addiction, for war is a drug.")
the movie was about the addiction of adrenaline and how, if around it enough, one can be addicted to war, idk if this is true or not because ive never had the experience, but the theme is made clear by how reckless jeremy renner's character is the scene where the 3 go looking for the insurgents, and also at the end where he tells his kid there is only one thing he loves
he ultimately ends up back in iraq for another year because thats where he belongs and i thought that was a very interesting/different concept for a war movie

I'm convinced those last 10 minutes or so are the reason this movie is getting so much praise. The rest of it is just action flick.

Watched it last night...
It was a great movie! Really enjoyed it.
I won't get into the debate that's been going on this thread, because honestly I don't give a frick if it was realistic and accurate or not ... it was an entertaining and intense MOVIE!

well for example how the guys are always going off by themselves, which was the case for the entire movie, the way they interact, the way they had free reign over any situation. it is not a little unbelievable but entirely unbelievable. the is a fine example of hollywood not taking enough time or really not giving a shite how to accurately portray combat. EOD will not go out without at least an entire platoon supporting them, which is almost always the unit which finds the ied. then EOD proceeds to take 4 hrs figuring out how to action on the ordnance, then they drive their robot up to it to look at it for about 1hr, then finally they just blow it the frick up.
I agree. This movie was so fake it was hard to enjoy sometimes.
When the EOD guy picked up the 50 cal and started picking off running point targets at 600 meters I lol'ed.

So is it worth watching? I got a snow day tomorrow and just found a great new site for free movies.
