#2 is during the little Larry scene. I'll let you find it for yourself. After all, it just gives you an excuse to watch the movie again.

Found it.

The Dude's car is directly across the street from the 'vette when Walter smashes back glass and window, but gone once Walter turns on headlights...re-appears when the owner comes out and attacks it.

From about 1:20 mark and on...turn volume down or NSFW, obviously.
This is what happens, Larry

Holy crap man, I didn't even notice that! Haha!

I was referring to the vette itself. Walter smashes out the headlights, then there is a shot of the vette after that shows the headlights are down. The next view the lights are back up again. Never noticed the other thing.

ALL RIIIIIGHT!!! Way to go Donny!

My favorite movie of all time.

Brandt: These are Mr. Lebowski's children, so to speak--
DUDE: Different mothers, huh?
Brandt: No, they--
Dude: I guess he's pretty, uh, racially pretty cool--
Brandt: They're not his, heh-heh, they're not literally his children; they're the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers, inner-city children of promise but without the--
DUDE: I see.
Brandt: --without the means for higher education, so Mr. Lebowski has committed to sending all of them to college.
DUDE: Jeez. Think he's got room for one more?
Brandt: One--oh! Heh-heh. You never went to college?
DUDE: Well, yeah I did, but I spent most of my time occupying various, um, administration buildings--
Brandt: Heh-heh--
DUDE: --smoking thai-stick, breaking into the ROTC--
Brandt: Yes, heh--
DUDE: --and bowling. I'll tell you the truth, Brandt, I don't remember most of it.--Jeez! frick me!

Oh this is the scene I was thinking about with the Edit mistake:

Brandt says: "without the necessary means for - the necessary means for"

I didn't think that was an editing mistake, I thought he was just sort of stuttering. IIRC, he says "necessary means", then moves the Dude's hand away from the shoe, then quickly says it again.

There's no way that's a mistake.

Yeah, there's no way that was a mistake, yes yes.

I love the Brandt repeats.

Best part of this movie is how so many different characters use the same wording throughout the movie.

Far out, man.

Fair enough, it just never came across as a stutter to me. It sounded way too disjointed to be a stutter and is a weird place for a stutter. But whatever.

So I have a question:

Is the dude a cowboy? Some long lost soul from the other century that's been transported to L.A. in the 90's? What's the point of those motifs and the narrator?

I think he's a cowboy.

People are stressed with worries of the future, the job, the family, financial, etc. He's the guy they wish they could be (even if it's for a short time)....living in the NOW without concern for those issues. He's behind on the rent; no big deal. Instead of a job, it's where can he get a White Russian and another joint and bowl with his friends. The Dude Abides.
