Correct on the former; incorrect on the latter.
KISS (Gene) is all about money, and having little scruples in pursuit of money. Nonetheless, their catalog is littered with legitimately good and great rock songs. Lots of filler, yes; but also some moments of greatness, at least oas songwriters.

It's pretty well documented that Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons were NEVER into drugs or drinking. And I guarantee you that they are crushingly wealthy and have not blown it on drugs. They actually kicked out Peter Criss and Ace Frehley because of substance abuse problems. Simmons to this day claims that he has never even been drunk once in his life. His addiction is women.
