While the video itself wasn't canon, it certainly hinted at what was to come in the season ahead (with most of the cast stuck back in the 70s with Dharma). I think the commercials and the America's Most Wanted bit are as much of a preview of the next season as you're going to get right now (given that they haven't started filming yet). I doubt very seriously that they were a "joke."
the faraday/candle video did hint a little bit at the time travel employed in season 5 and made reference to "the incident" i believe. what i mean is that the comic con vid's are usually easter egg type material for dvd's and just to have fun with the fans that attend. it could be a hint as to season 6 (that everything has been set back after the bomb went off), i just cant see them goin in that direction, people will be PISSED.

The comic con videos are supposed to be canon. Darlton said it was originally planned for Faraday and Candle to shoot this, but they just changed plans. The Orchid one though is 100% canon; I just hope these aren't.

I wouldn't be shocked. I've been thinking that is where he came from for a long arse time. Or some sort of Egyptian connection.
