Pixar has lasted long enough to go from the coolest thing on Earth to the lamest thing on Earth, according to the ultra "too cool for everyone else internet champions" out there.
To be fair when you go from incredible movies like Toy Story and Finding Nemo to Cars 2 you should get blasted.

Anyone who truly thinks that Cars 2 was bad can suck my left foot.

I don't mind Pixar movies being judged against other Pixar films. They set a standard; they deserved to be judged by it.
I didn't have huge expectations for Monsters U. But I did enjoy it more than I thought I would. Definitely not one of the top Pixar movies, but better than A Bug's Life imo.

What's wrong with A Bug's Life?

Just wasn't that spectacular. Was better than most of the crap Disney was putting out from like 97 til 2003, but it was nothing memorable. Antz was an equally quality movie.
When you think of Pixar, you think the best animated film of the year. They failed that year and honestly, they failed last year, but at least last year, they failed to their sister company (Walt Disney Animation) rather than a competitor.

They failed the year Rango won best cartoon and when Wreck it Ralph came out. What Pixar flick came out with Rango?

Rango was 2011. Cars 2 was 2011. Wreck-it Ralph and Brave were last year from THoM.
Rango was legit. Rattlesnake Jake's first appearance on screen was one of the best intros for any villain in any genre of film.

The House of Mouse? I feel smart.

Not much. At the time, I thought it was really good. Not nearly as original or funny as Toy Story, but it definitely wasn't a step back at the time. But looking back at what all Pixar has done, it doesn't stack up well against the rest. That's not a knock on it as much as it is a compliment to (almost) everything else.

I was surprised that one didn't make as big of a splash at the box office. Great movie.
I think this post is being pretty harsh. I thought MU was great! There were a few parts that were a little predictable, and there were some Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds elements (especially the latter), but I enjoyed and the kids loved it.
I agree on most of the other sequels, though. Cars was okay, but Cars 2 was definitely not needed and not that good, and now Planes?
Pixar has had hits and misses. All of the Toy Story movies, The Incredibles (my personal favorite), Monsters, Inc and Up were all great; Wall-E and Cars 2 we could have done without.

Rango was a march release and it had that western vibe to it. Didn't have a big studio's label slapped on it either.

Rango was money. I was really pleasantly surprised by it. Isla Fisher and Johnny Depp were money

Saw Monsters University and thought it was pretty good. Laughed quite a bit.
