Gary Oldman I sometimes don't even realize it's the same guy in his films.
RDJ also fits in of course, especially with some of the stuff in the last 5-10 years.
Why all the hate for Johnny? Edward Scissorhands, Pirates, Secret Window...all totally different types of film and characters.

You have lost your mind if you don't think he's a versatile actor.

Ben Kingsley gets my vote but Gary Oldman is a great choice as well

Depp.He can do a British accent. For an American actor, this makes him a god.

Marlon Brando
Claus Kinski
Val Kilmer
Ben Kingsly
Ingrid Bergman
Nicolas Cage
Day-Lewis
Peter Sellers
Depp has played varied roles, but I find most of them to be hallow, excluding Ed Wood.

Only read the first post, did anyone say Gary Oldman yet? He's the correct answer. Crazy Communist terrorist, Police officer/Commissioner, prisoner/Wizard, etc.
