what if it wasn't his totem and it was his wife's?
It became his. He started carrying it after she died. If he was still in a dream, it would have been spinning with no wobble or anything, but it is clearly starting to wobble. When the totum would spin in a dream, it would spin indefinitely.

Yeah pretty much what I think.

Just got back from the movie. All I gotta say is

They said no one should touch your totem. And if it wasn't his and he was dreaming, his subconscious could do whatever it wanted to do with it. Thus the spinning/non spinning really had nothing to do with it being a dream or not, just a smoke screen. I'm not advocating any possibility, I just like debating myself as to which was true.

I don't see why it would matter since she was dead.

Finally got around to seeing it.
All I can say is...HOLY shite
The action scene in the hotel hallway was so incredibly well executed. That shite blew my mind.

i think it would matter because YOUR totem let you know you were in YOUR dream. But her being dead does bring up that thought.

Did anyone feel that some of the themes from this movie were similar to Stephen Kings Dark Tower series?

no, hell no, the whole movie was not Leo's dream and thats not even up for debate
you can debate the end all you want but there was some reality before that, I guarantee
Clarify that at all?
I am saying that the whole movie was NOT Leo's dream, it was reality.
However, you can debate the ending- whether he was back in reality or still in a dream.

How long were Leo and his wife asleep in their 50 year old dreamworld? Using the 60:1 ratio, or whatever it was, they should have been in a nearly 1 year coma without food and water to sustain that kind of dream.
that would be the case if they were in level one, but they were in limbo so that multiples it even further, making it feasible

yeah didn't they say the 3rd layer could be 5 years for 10 hours?
Posted on 7/17/10 at 10:15 pm to UnluckyTiger
10 hours reality = 1 week at level 1 = 6 months at level 2 = 10 years at level 3.
It's compounded by a factor of 20 at each subsequent depth.

I have not thought about it that hard but can someone explain this part to me:
The old chinese man and young Leo, what was going on there, why was he washed up on the beach, still young and why was the chinese guy really old?
My guess is that they were both in limbo and the chinese guy was really old because he had been down there for a really long time while Leo had not been there for that long. Leo then convinced old chinese guy that this was a dream and he needed to kill himself to get back to reality.

after Saito "died" in the third dream state, Dom said that he would sink to limbo. If you remember, Dom and Mol spent 50 years in limbo together and grew old. There was a shot of the 2 of them as old people holding hands. In limbo you age but cannot get out without help. If you are there for so long you lose track of why or how you were there in the first place. Saito was old because he had been there for maybe an hour, when in the previous dream layer only maybe 10 min had passed. Being that there is no concept of time. Time is non existent in limbo, so Saito was there for maybe 20 years when a fraction of that time had passed in the layer above.

Alright, when Saito dies he goes into Limbo. There is an amount of time in between when Saito goes to Limbo and Cobb goes to Limbo, in which Saito ages quickly in the lower dream state.
They got out of Limbo because the recently entered Cobb convinces him that Limbo isn't real, which allows him to kill himself and go back to "reality" which I believe to still be a dream.
