Spoilers in this post...
Saw it last night and would give it a 6.75 out of 10. I am a fan of the predator movies (can barely stomach AVP's though). I think the more that come out, the more I realize how big of a home run Arnold hit with the first one. I too found the movie predictable at times. Unfortunately I had done minimal reading about the movie and it was revealed in several sources the twist with Topher Grace's charecter. I did think he did a great job with it though. I liked the twist with Lawrence Fishburn's charecter. I was expecting him to reveal some info to the team, join up, and make his final run at the predators. Didnt see it coming when he turned on the group. Also I liked that they made him mentaly unstable as well. The actors did a great job all around. Brody was great as were the supporting cast. Plot is where this movie let down a little to me. Everything went a little to straight forward and simple.
All in all I did leave the theater with a little adreneline pumping and I kept thinking about the movie later on. If you are a fan go and see it but dont get your hopes up to far. better than AVP's and about the same as II.
Random Thoughts: They didnt track the predators, they tracked the predator's dogs back to the camp.
Would have liked to have seen a little more action with the falconer predator.
Saw no need for the other alien race dropped in from the crates. Would have rather seen this time used on story line.
Since I wasnt expecting oscar material I kinda would have liked to have seen an actual win for Brody's charecter even if it would have been an escape along the line of the one in "Pitch Black"
I never saw the scene from the TV ad's where Adrian Brody's charecter has all of the laser sights on him. Did I miss it? This kept me waiting to see something along the lines of th end of Predator II. Good guys win and twenty more reveal themselves.

Spoiler
It was just put in the commercial to draw more interest. It's the scene where the convict jumps on the predator's back and stabs him to save Adrien Brody.

A prequel to Predators that shows his character getting to the reserve and first learning to hide out and stuff would be a great story IMO. I love LF as an actor

I have considered seeing this film but I have a problem with any movie that casts women in combat roles as not only is it not realistic but it is illegal in this country. Were the women soldiers from other countries? I understand there needs to be some T&A in this movie but they could have found another way to stick it in there. The 1st Predator had a believeable role for the latino gal as an irregular fighter. I don't think anyone is going to buy that a woman is one of the best special operators on the planet. I have not seen the movie so please correct me if I am way off base. Thanks.

the chick is from IDF and I believe the israeli's allow women in combat so it's believable

Do they get the finest of each branch or are the people criminals? If it is the criminal scenario it would be believeable but if it is the best soldier from each branch I ain't buyiny that.

She was apparently a bad arse sniper. A little more believable than her being a tough guy marine or any bullshite like that.

It isn't believable that a woman can be an awesome shot?

:::SPOILERS:::
I've noticed that people who dislike this movie have some real off-based problems with it, or must not have payed attention in the movie (turn off your cell phone in the theater please) because they're saying that there are plot holes or that they don't know what happened to all of the predators, etc...
I saw it last night, and want to see it again - I thought it was awesome. I was curious if this was a reboot of the franchise, or a sequel and I am glad it was a sequel.
The fact that the Predators learn from their experiences with what they hunt on this preserve gives insight as to how the Predator was so well adapted to hunting down Arnold's group in the first one - they train in a jungle environment.
When Topher Grace's character pulled out a scapula, I was wondering why would a doctor carry around a scapula... the answer: he's not a doctor, he's a serial killer.
I think the story was well-written, and the characters were cool and well developed. How much more development do you need for each character? Do you need to know where they went to grade school to find them believable?
Of course, the intrigue of the Predator is missing just a bit because we saw it in the first two movies, but they helped accommodate that with introducing the second race of Predators, explaining their feud, and then having one captured and strung up, so you were thinking, "what the frick - is this a trap?"
I didn't expect LP's character to turn on them either, but then when he did, it was believable because he showed signs of being a nut-case.
Overall.. this movie was awesome because it fit the franchise, and opened the door to more movies (if the story can follow the same story arch as the original, and this one).

I thought it was pretty good. Brody was actually pretty easy to believe as the tough guy unlike Bloom was in Kingdom of Heaven.
I'd still rank 1 and 2 ahead of it though. And that sniper chick had terrible aim for being the best of the best.
Lawrence Fishburne was creepy

Spoilers
I'm not kidding!
SPOILERS+++++++++++++++++++++++++SPOILERS
1. Including a woman was a JOKE.
2. AB as the main man was a JOKE.
3. An additional Jew on the "team." (3 total including the IDF joker?) NOT believable.
4. The Russian would have rocked a bit more. FREAKING Spetsnaz!
5. As in Predator 1, a negro was the first to "see" the Predators. Porque?
6. The feud between the two varieties of Predators was never explained. I felt cheated there.
7. The "hunting dogs" disappeared.
8. The Jap would not have had that much success.
9. The prisoner would have owned EVERYONE if he had had a gun. We laughed so hard when he jumped on the predator that the lady in front of me leaped in surprise.

See I felt the opposite - the fact that the humans were dropped on this hunting park for the Predators, along with countless unspeakably horrifying alien races to be hunted, I would have loved to have seen a scene or two with the Predators hunting one of the weird alien creatures. Just something "new" for us.
I agree with many that the sequels to the original really make you appreciate Arnold's screen presence. I liked Brody in this one but he doesn't come close to Arnold's command of the lead role.
I thought the first 45 mins. of this one was really well done. The middle had some nice action and suspense. And the end was a cluttered mess. I think the ending could have been done a lot better - from the stupid twist with Grace, to the crappy fight between the predators, to the final battle with Brody and the last Predator - which was very unoriginal. I wasn't a fan of the ending whatsoever. It's a shame because otherwise the movie could have been really great.

Explained very well Jwodie. I was trying to say that in my review but didnt get it out to well. I couldnt tell if the end fight with Adrian Brody was a nod to the first movie or if it was the directors plan. There were several times I had this question throughout the movie. I did read that Robert Rodrigues didnt want a muscle guy for the lead (A Brody was in great shape for the role though) because most special forces guys are not roid monsters but lean fit athleticly built guys. I liked the movie and will see it again as soon as it hits DVD.
Does anyone know how it did at the box office over the weekend?

Just got back. I thought it was great for what it was. A few too many nods to the original make it too predictable, but fun nonetheless. I have a problem with this thread though. Four pages in and no one says shite about Brody's voice? Everyone killed Bale for the batman voice; and yet Brody gets to use a D- interpretation of it here without mention?

Saw it last night. Meet my expectations. It was a sequel to a franchise that has been around for twenty some odd years so I wasn't expecting anything highly original. You know the formula, guys round around in jungle with big guns while predators kill them off one by one. Had a few sequel moments but nothing too cliche.
I read the whole thread here and everyone already touched on anything I would say so I'll agree with the consensus, if your in the mood for a summer time action flick that has a healthy quota of blood & guts then it fits the bill.

Did $25.3 million on a budget of $40 million. This doesn't factor international box office sales. Movie did well. In this link they say they would love to do a sequel, considering Rodriguez has written 2 other scripts.
