But when 1955 Biff starts using the almanac, everything in the future changes. Therefore the almanac wouldn't even be in the store for him to purchase because of the alternate timeline that was created.
hmmmm....

Doc goes back to Marty. At the beginning of that mission. it can be done via doc or via note. "Hey marty. you're going to think about buying a sports almanac from a vintage store to get rich. in doing so, you fricked the entire future. don't buy it. good luck with rest of the mission" signed Future Doc
You have to think about it in the sequence that the events happened. Marty had not yet gone to the future yet so there was no opportunity to purchase the Almanac.

I think Bender tries this in Futurama and the universe explodes.
I knew there had to be a catch.

i would answer all of your questions, but time-travel causes some memory loss...

then how does future biff exist to give the almanac to past biff.

does a phone booth really make any more or less sense than a Lamborghini?
It's a DeLorean.
I thought someone would jump on that
point is... does it really make sense you'd would have to move at whatever speed it was (55? less than 100 mph) to move through time? I mean after all the objects on earth are all just moving at relative speeds to other things in the universe
why is a sports car moving in some random direction on earth in a random location more likely to be a workable time machine than a phone booth?
It isn't important. I just thought it was weird when someone was like "yeah, right phone booth... " (but a car maybe?)

Are they really altering the timelines or will the universe course correct (ala LOST)? woooooaaaaahhh
I don't even know where I'm trying to go with that, just the thought of Lost and BTTF is exciting.

Well that's where the flux capacitor comes in. Although we can only be skeptical about how the flux capacitor works, maybe for that particular car it needs to reach 88 mph to make the time jump. Kind of like skipping a stone. If you don't throw it hard enough it'll dive. With just enough speed it'll hit the water at such an angle it'll bounce off!

Dude, are you questioning the fricking flux capacitor right now? Because if so, you need to watch your mouth.

Note to self:
When in the presence of Cocomo, don't frick with SBTB or BTTF...

this is just like when you're watching star trek and someone starts speaking gibberish cloaked in an aura of authenticity
you are just saying according to the rules of the movie it had to reach Speed X. Which is fine for the rules of the movie - but doesn't actually explain anything.
But the rules of Bill and Ted said just get into a special phone booth... when it comes down to it that is the exact same leap of faith (it works don't ask questions)
