Two years before Sling Blade BBT wrote and filmed a short with JT Walsh and Molly Ringwald called Some Folks Call It a Slingblade. It is set in the mental hospital on the day of Karl's release.

John Ritter's response was an example of great acting. The easiest thing for actors to do is scream and cry but his breathless "I will" makes that scene and the whole movie real in that one moment
