They are building an entire Star Wars themed land at both U.S. parks and an immersive hotel at Disney World. They aren’t selling the rights

Context, man

I was just talking about ways they could save the franchise.

Nobody thinks they will sell the rights.

Everyone's money spends the same. I thought Disney made it clear with TLJ that they weren't going to cater to a small group of Star Wars weirdos.

I guess not.

The Mandalorian Platoon isn’t even top five for reasons why Solo underperformed.

FIFY.

And how did that work out for them so far?
Do you agree Solo is grossly under-performing?

It's word of mouth has been "meh" at best. Solo does nothing to setup the next movie, or build/regain interest in the SW universe.

Disney really dropped the ball with the SW franchise. Should have been a bunch of easy wins.

Sure, but franchises rely on the core fans.

This isn't rocket science. The core fans give you a base sum per movie that spends the same way.

You lose them, you lose that base sum of money that spends the same way.

So you aren't great with connections, even when they are spelled out for you?

Of course. My point is that Disney won't make major changes because of it.

Disney has exponentially grown their investment. They've had billions of easy wins.

You think all four of you are going to get Kennedy and Johnson fired, don't you?

They're pulling in billions, but they're going to change it all because you didn't get your way.

No, that was Disney, as I've stated numerous times...

First, thanks for the reply.

But:

Is a poor statement. They could have had billions more with better stories. As it is they are devaluing the franchise potential.

Inertia is hard to overcome, but Disney's current plan has stopped people from "being excited about SW" to "meh". Once lost, momentum is then hard to regain. They need to do it with the next film.

Otherwise, just write off the franchise for 5-10 years.

TLJ has a 91 rating and made well over a billion dollars.

I disagree. There's no way they'd sustain the level of enthusiasm needed to bring in billions of dollars every few years months with one of these movies, especially factoring in everything else they're releasing.

Every single movie in the MCU did better than solo. Including IM2, hulk, etc....

The MCU movies are well written and cast and directed and didn't take a shite on their fanbase.

You can try to explain it away all you want, but the bottom line is Disney took the Star Wars universe - not once but twice - and handed it over to no name unproven directors which blew up in their faces and then they proceeded to double down and attack the fanbase and shite on the IP.

They could have very easily made a movie or two a year like the MCU did and made hundreds of millions off of each movie. But they actively chose not to do that.

The MCU and Star Wars are not the same. Not even close.

Nice try.

Not likely. Again, Star Wars isn't Marvel.

Oh yeah. . .that 91% rating. The one where they were counting 2 out of 5 stars as "Fresh", I remember that one.

And those that liked it, it was generally because it appealed to their sense of social justice. Grrr males bad grrr.

since we are using rotten tomatoes as a reliable tool, of the billion dollars that was spent seeing the movie 54% felt it was garbage. So much so that Disney Damage Control had their paid writers make up convoluted conspiracies about bots and white supremacist.

Which actually sounds like a movie plot that would be better than TLJ.
