he stole this one from the simpsons movie

When they had an excerpt of the book in Entertainment Weekly, he made a point to say that he did not steal it from the Simpsons's movie and that he had started writing this novel years ago

. . . . or so he would have you believe.

Obviously he is sensitive to that criticism.

Hell, it doesn't matter if he did steal the idea, the Simpsons have nothing on this book.

King's a master.

I stopped reading somewhere around 1988, after "Tommyknockers."

That was such an awful, awful book. The only good part in the whole book was when he kinda sorta referenced Pennywise in an offhand remark ("...passing through Derry, she could have sworn she saw a clown in the storm drain."--paraphrase).

Just about every book was the same after Tommyknockers (save one here or there).

I really haven't read anything since he's had his "rebirth," so I can't speak on that.

To the poster who asked how to get started, start with "The Stand." His best work as a young writer (maybe his best work period). Then move on to "IT." Then anything written before, say, 1990.

Was kind of a disappointment after years of books like "The Shining," "The Stand," "Christine," "Cujo," "IT," and "The Talisman." And that's just what I can remember off the top of my head.

The Long Walk, written when he was younger, it's just brutal without too much "voodoo" stuff if any at all.
