Wow. Yet, Drea interjected race anyway. Which strengthens my point that maybe she isn't an "elite" player. She has multiple advantages and still, she said what she said.

Irony is really lost on some of you liberals, isn't it? Where's your objectivity and sense fit into a player bringing racism into the game where it didn't exist?

I anxiously await your objective and sensical reply.

It did work out for Mike to not play his though

I am a little worried for Mike when he finds out what happened at that tribal. He already was feeling awful about the Rocks vote and throwing racism on top of that I can see him losing all focus on his game play and making camp miserable- I'm not sure the Hoboken kid can keep that inside.

Mike is also about to get his idol stolen by Drea. Doesn't mean he's going home, but he's the only target for her advantage.

You mean Jonathan? He’s the one that brought up racism and Drea corrected him that she wasn’t accusing anyone of being racist. And I agree that there has been no racism in this season.

Jeff brought up racism first, really.

Drea: "And then it always happens where at one point the Black contestants get booted out — Boom! Boom! Boom! — and then that's exactly what this is right now. So yeah, I'm pissed."

Jeff: "So do you think it's race related?"

Drea: "subconsciously, a little bit of that unfortunately,"

YOU. CANNOT. BE. FRICKING. SERIOUS.
It is impossible to reason with someone that does not see what everyone else sees, they see what they WANT to see. And that person is you.

If we were to poll the thread, and ask:

Upvote if you believe Drea introduced racism
Downvote if you believe Jonathan introduced racism

How do you, in your deepest, darkest, safe space, think that poll would turn out? Oh, I know, you'd accuse all the upvoters of racism.

I just don't understand people like you, Spleen. There are good and bad of every color...and you just cannot see or admit that it was a shitty play, on multiple levels. For everyone involved. It's a detriment to the game, and more. But you keep doing, you, I guess.

Have a blessed day.

The question was about a player, not Jeff.

Okay, then Drea was the first player that brought up racism when she answered Jeff's question by saying that she thought subconscious racism is why the first two jury members were black.

I’m well aware how that poll would turn out. I’ve been posting in these Survivor and BB threads for several seasons now. The reaction in this thread to last night’s episode has played exactly how I thought it would.

Oh, I know, you'd accuse all the upvoters of racism.

I haven’t accused anyone in this discussion of being racist, so not sure where you’re coming from here. I do think there has been some ignorance, but more than that just a complete lack of being able to listen and apply some grace to someone else’s life experiences.

These discussions are one of my favorite things about Survivor, because they’re real. And Jeff does a good job at facilitating them. Has he gone too far at times? Sure, but that’s also reality. We’ll maybe never know if Drea knew or sensed she was a possible target at last night’s TC. At best for her, it was a ploy to flush her idol, and at worst she was the actual target. We also may never know if she came to TC with the intent to play her idol. We do know her reaction to seeing Rocks on the jury was one of utter shock, and in the parameters of the game she was forced to process that shock in a very short window of time. So I don’t think this was a planned strategy in her kart to play the race card. I do think she has been the victim of prejudice and discrimination in her life and those experiences played a part in her processing the situation and her decision to play her idol and make that play known. Whether that will show to be a good move or bad move in the context of the game remains to be seen. Her decision seemed more based on “virtue signaling” to younger black viewers that black players belonged on the show and she wasn’t going to allow a third straight black player from being voted out.

And there's the crux of the issue. But instead of playing within the parameters of the game, she dropped racism. On people that exhibited nothing of the sort. And by doing so, she turned up the heat for the non AA players, the viewers, and future Survivor contestants. Do you honestly believe AA players won't be viewed with a bit of skepticism going forward?

If racism is the vicious scourge that it's made out to be, how can one so casually paint fellow contestants with that brush, when they've done nothing to warrant it? IMO, she owes this cast an apology. I know we've gone back and forth with the mechanics of how this began, but if Jeff opened that door, she kicked it down.

Why in the hell did Lindsey sit there and let Tori take her “shot in the dark” without Lindsey doing the same?

Since there are now 2/12 parchments that say “Safe,” it would have been great if they had both taken their chance and both drawn “Safe” scrolls . . . There would have been no one left to vote for! That would have taught Survivor a lesson to get rid of the gimmick.

Jonathan, Tori, and Lindsay had that same reaction.

Maryanne too, but she has had that same reaction every time anyone has been voted out.

We have to assume that there were only 1/6 since the tribe was split, and Jeff explaining that got edited out.
