I try not to think about TS.
As far as the space-time paradox the existance of the Terminators would remain even if the Conners were killed. They were already created in an alternate future. It really depends on ones views of the continuum.

I always wondered why they didn't sent the T-1 back to kill Sarah when she was a child. Or her mother...or her mother. Seems it would have been easier.

Skynet probably didn't have information on her that far back. Heck, Arnold didn't even know what she looked like as an adult and had to terminate all the Sarah Conners in the phone book. If Reese hadn't shown up and outed her, he never would have been sure he got the right one. Maybe his mission only started in L.A.
